The M3 is only an incremental upgrade from the M2. And, realistically, the M1 is still more than enough for most people. So if you already have one of the previous models, there's not much reason to upgrade. They're becoming like iPhones and Apple Watches in that regard - there's not a strong case to upgrade each year, but if you wait a few years or more between upgrades, the incremental improvements add up and it will feel like a big step forward.

My M1 (with 16GB Ram and 1TB SSD) hasn't shown any signs of slowing down. So I'm going to give it another year and see what the M4 brings. But this is a great price if you're in the market for one now.

OMG I finally did it!

Best Slickdeals deal I ever got. $1799 for the 16" Macbook Pro (2499 on Apple's website!) I even got the Space Black, unreal. Proof: https://ibb.co/6Wd4HFT

Big thanks to Microcenter in Indianapolis for keeping ONE of these Macbooks at this price for price matching! Ha!

Step by step what I did, hope someone else can get the same!
1. Microcenter link to send to BB rep: https://www.microcenter.com/produ...ack?sp=429
EVEN THOUGH THIS LINK SAID OUT OF STOCK THEY STILL ACCEPTED IT FOR A PRICE MATCH
2. I went through 3 reps. The first rep said it couldn't do the because of "one per household". The second said she couldn't do it unless I picked up in Indianapolis. The third said the same with regard to Indianapolis, but they seemed like they were ready to go along with it (even in the color I wanted) so I just said I had a friend coming in to get in to get it and gave them a fake name. I did this because on BestBuy's website it says you can switch the order from pickup to shipped up to 30 minutes after it's placed. Except that wasn't true: the only option was to cancel the order :/
3. The kicker: I knew getting the price match on the OOS item was the hard part, so I just started another chat and explained that my friend can't pick it up. They had me cancel the order and created the SAME PRICE MATCH for my local store, pickup tomorrow, no problem with this rep whatsoever.

Hopefully someone else can replicate this!

Best Buy knows whats up now. I got in earlier easily on an order without zip code. Now all reps asking for zip code and won't let me pick up locally

Edit: Tried twice more and finally got a rep who didn't care about zip code. Keep trying!

Awesome! Was able to pricematch for a 15" M3 16/512. I just got an M2 16/256 refrub from Apple last week for $1179 so for $50 more, i get brand new, newer processor and more storage. Repped!

Historically, Apple supports Macs for about 7 years from the original launch date of the product. If this continues to hold, then the M1 MBA is already almost exactly halfway through its support lifecycle.

IMO this is a good argument to favor the M3 or M2 based systems if you're buying new in 2024.

I got a BB rep who said several times I was approved for a price match. She advised me to make the purchase and said they would price match it afterwards. After I made the purchase, she said she wasn't able to do it now but if I follow up with them again in about 30 minutes that someone else would make the adjustment for me. She again advised I was approved for the price match. I followed up 30mins later and spoke with 3 different reps who all said no to the price match and said that the first rep was incorrect. All 3 said they can't cancel order and that I'm basically SOL. Now I'm dealing with the hassle of trying to cancel/return this order.
