Costco has the popular Apple HomePod 2nd Gen for $199.99, the lowest price new ever. This is an exceptional speaker, and if you combine 2 of them you can use as an Atmos system with your Apple TV. Which I personally use and can confirm its better than pretty much all soundbar setups under $1K.

In Store @ $199.99
This particular pic is from Carlsbad Costco, where they had at least 30 in stock from my visual.

Most likely your issue.

I don't think most people have problems playing one song. Sonos subs are filled with these comments and turns out to be network related. It's not only about the router there can also be interference in your building or other reasons.

Trust me if people could not play one song on these speakers they wouldn't sell and everyone would bash them
These work fantastic with Apple TV. Much better than my Sonos Ones. They are a no brainer if you are in the Apple ecosystem. Nice find!
Costco rep told me they're phasing these out. None left in WA State (Seattle etc).

What as AirPlay speakers?

When I tried that with the latest gen of ones, half the time they wouldn't connect to each other when I woke up the apple tv. Is that what you experienced?

They can definitely work as AirPlay surround they sound great you pair 2 even better and then have them as default speakers

Agreed. We have a 1st gen pair in our living room on our mantle - we have a mantle mount so a soundbar wouldn't work and I didn't want to do a full surround sound setup. Sounds awesome relative to the small package

The earc support is really good, too, so it will support any hdmi input for a Nintendo switch or whatever else you use

I have a current gen HomePod mini pair in our bedroom and again, sounds great. These are great devices if you are an Apple house

What did they blow out the gen 1 HomePods at?
Was it $150 or $100?

I don't have a Costco local to me, is there a way to check if my store actually has any / is discounted? I would have to call I guess and we know that's always what you shouldn't do for deals..

My local Costco hasn't carried HomePods at all for a while otherwise I'd jump on this.

I would go with a Sonos Arc over a pair of these if that's what you're planning - I have used both and the Arc is significantly better in my opinion.

I was THE HomePod fanboy for years (full size)
But apples whole HomeKit AirPlay ecosystem is beyond trash. It's gotten worse rather than better. It's frankly insane given their position and wealthy

I've had two sets of stereo HomePods and for the last year, despite different WiFi access points and routers, I can't get through a single song without them cutting out. A single HomePod usually works fine.

I finally disconnected them and switched to Klipsch Fives in my office and Nines in the living room. These can be had for $450 (Fives) and $1k (Nines) if you shop around - that's the pair, not each

I used to dream of filling my homes with $199 HomePods and now that it's here.... it's a huge no thanks

You do you tho
