I doubt you will ever see a premiere baitcaster reel for $30, this is a great price for a beginner setup to feel out baitcaster or fishing in general, then buy some better gear down the road if you want to in my opinion.

This won't be the reel you hand the kids in 20 years, but it will get you fishing today for 30 bucks.

These get he job done. I have two. I use them just as much as the black max, silvermax and curado DC. Shoot i use it more than the DC, but that is because they are all used for different presentations.

Pretty much any rod can, but you have to be willing to rinse it out thoroughly after use. Is this one designed for saltwater? No.

I surf fish from time time. Easy to just pick up a cheap rod/reel combo or more than one and just distcard when done that day.

I've been doing that when I travel and fish. Cheaper to buy some $40-50 set and give it away when I am done than pay for oversize luggage or even renting rods. I'm not a good fisherman so cheap gear doesn't bother me much. Maybe that's partly why I am not a good fisherman. Smilie
