I own this drone. Flew it yesterday actually. Really no complaints.

Heads up, you can't upgrade to the Pro remote with a screen, if you wanted.
It's an OK deal, with only ONE battery included. If it were the Fly More Combo, with 3x batteries, and case, then it would be a Slick Deal.
Not a big deal. It is sold for $225 on dji official website.

Be careful using non-DJI USB chargers... I figured any phone charger would be fine to charge the battery, but the one I used over-charged my battery and bricked it where it would not even power on or respond to me pressing the power button at all. I got the battery replaced under warranty and they sent me a brand new one. I just figured the old battery was defective and didn't realize you need to use a DJI charger so I used my good old Samsung phone charger again and it over-charged this battery too and bricked it. I felt too guilty to try and get another battery replaced under warranty since technically it was my fault for not reading up that you need to use a DJI charger. I don't know why they don't just include it with the drone if it is necessary. I figured the drone would have stopped the charging process when it was fully charged but I guess that isn't the case. So now I am going to have to spend more money before I ever get to actually fly it.

There are always comments on the dji drone deals about getting a fly more combo but my experience is it is not needed for everyone. I spent the extra money on a 3 battery combo and but after quickly getting over the learning curve of drone flying I only ever need 1 battery and now have 2 that I never use. Don't let a single battery scare you away from a good entry level drone deal like this one.

Hmm. What Samsung model charger did you use? I'd be very surprised that a properly functioning USB charger would brick any of these. They have built in charging/BMS chips. The 18w DJI does 5-12v. The 30w DJI does 5-15v. Very similar to quick charge 2.0 specs. Samsung uses a similar technology. You either have a bad charger or some other user related error. Also what model DJI?

Did you read the manual? It recommends DJI charger or QC 2.0/PD 2.0 chargers but on their support page it's more open. "DJI Mini 2 SE does not have special requirements for the charger. You can use an ordinary USB charger. DJI Mini 2 SE supports QC and USB PD fast-charging protocols, and supports up to 29 W of input power."

I was wrong. It was a Motorola charger and it never failed to charge my phone plus quite a few other devices over the last 3+ years of using it so I just figured it would work fine to charge the battery in the drone. I plugged it in and it was charging fine so i left it charge over night and when I woke up the next day it was blinking the over voltage detected light and will not power on any more. I just wanted to say something so other people know to use dji chargers or they may have the same problem i had and I know it recommends the dji charger in the manual but any USB device manufacturer will "recommend" their brand of charger to charge their devices. I've never had a problem using that USB charger before charging all kinds of devices with it (2 different phones, ps4, ps5, xbox controllers, Bluetooth speakers, action cameras, to name a few and it never killed any of those batteries so i figured it would be fine). There is nothing wrong with the charger. It just didn't work to charge the drones battery since it overcharged the 2 batteries i got, or i was just incredibly unlucky and received 2 defective batteries from dji. Either way, lesson learned and after a bit of googling, it seems it is not that uncommon and can be fixed by buying some other hardware device, but not gonna waste my time with that. I will just get the right charger and a new battery and chalk it up as a loss. It was a dji refurbished mini 2 se, same as in this deal.

Which Motorola charger specifically? Turbopower 10, 15, 20, or 30? That could help narrow down the incompatibility. They are technically QC 2.0/3.0 rebranded. Have you tried leaving the batteries in the drone? They will auto discharge to 93% in a day and even lower after 9 days. You might have 2 perfectly good batteries. Also they recommend unplugging the charger once fully charged. Obviously I get you have other stuff to do but leaving it overnight probably isn't recommended.

I appreciate you leaving this comment. I just wanna get down to the bottom of the incompatibility so everyone can benefit.

USB charging is a pretty standardized process and it seems kind of odd that it would actually overcharge the battery due to using a non-DJI charger. Honestly, that sounds like something that a minimum-wage Best Buy tech would throw out as a silly excuse. I would almost suspect an issue with the drone itself not regulating the charge properly or possibly a one-off defective charger if anything.

Edit: never mind the section below … I just realized you said it bricked your drone. I'd still question the non-DJI charger theory though.

Can you still fly your drone with the battery or is it grounded with that message? Also, does it say over-voltage or over-current? I saw a thread about some users with plus batteries getting an over-current message when flying with plus batteries at full speed. That seems to have something to do with the props needing to spin faster due to the increased weight and pulling more current than expected. I could also see something like that happening with a drone carrying a little extra payload in case you've added any accessories like landing gear, etc. Anyway … just a thought. I'd take the whole "non-DJI charger" theory with a grain of salt.

One of the discussions of the "battery over-current" warning …

Pulled a trigger. Seems to be lowest price for long time and should be good enough for first start drone

only issue i see besides one battery is the 720p video

"DJI Mini 2 comes equipped with the DJI RC-N1 remote controller, which boasts DJI's long-range transmission OCUSYNCTM 2.0 technology, offering a maximum transmission range of 6 mi (10 km) and video quality of up to 720p from the aircraft to the DJI Fly app on a mobile device"

It can record 2.7k to the local memory card. The 720p limitation is just what it transmits to the remote … probably not a big deal since it's likely just being viewed on a small screen anyway. That resolution should be plenty for navigation and framing the shot and the high-res feed can be viewed / edited later. It looks like the Mini 3 Pro transmits at 1080p.

Dji makes awesome products I just wish they didn't require an internet connection. I was out in the backcountry for a few weeks and they updated their app during that time which essentially bricked my drone until I could get to data service about a week later.
How else are they going to spy?

Sure you can. I fly all the time without my phone/app. Just the Mini 2 and controller.
Yep, I've done the same with my original Mini. I was actually a bit surprised to learn that it worked without any phone or tablet at all when I first tried it. I had run out to a nearby park to test a few things and ended up forgetting the controller cable at home. I decided to give it a shot and sure enough, it did it's thing with just the controller. I also usually use mine with an iPad mini which doesn't have internet. The bigger screen makes for a lot easier viewing.

Thank you.
Are you saying every time you launch or just the first time?
You need to download the DJI app on your phone because the app tells the drone what to do when flying. You never need to update the app or drone firmware once it's been done initially. Naturally, there will be updates available like with any electronic device these days. But many users choose not to update since things are already working. Remember, firmware updates aren't always for the user's benefit.

Not worth it.. the SE is a terrible drone and it only has a range of about 200ft. I have several DJI drones and I would strongly recommend against the SE. Get a Mini 2 if you need a deal.

Is the internet connection required only for the drones heavier than 250grams? i now this is under 250 grams and doesn't require FAA registration, but does this still need internet connection to fly?
