This is a good quality midi lathe. I have had it for 2 or 3 years and it was a substantial upgrade from my jet mini.

One heads up is if you use it in a garage or it's outdoors, I've found the inverter motor will trip GFCI protected outlets almost immediately.

That isn't a big deal as long as you have a non gfci breaker or outlet you can use.

Also mine came with the forward and reverse wired backwards for some reason. But reversing directions is a super handy feature when working through sandpaper grits.

Other than that it takes standard attachments and mt2 parts, has good power, great adjustability. I'd get a new tool rest for bowls and things.

These prices do not seem worth dealing with Woot for the discount. Spend an extra $20 at Home Depot for the joiner:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Delta.../205112293

$40 more for the miter saw on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Delta-Equi...B07DKXRJ15

$50 more for the miter saw stand on Lowes:
https://www.lowes.com/pd/DELTA-St...d/50237913

The lathe might be worth it, it's an additional $100 on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Delta-Indu...B00309ZZRQ

These are discounted items, just be aware that the discounts are WAY less than how they appear on Woot's site. I would personally wait for a more reliable vendor.

Absolutely could not agree more. Woot is Amazon's dump that allows them to get rid of stuff at retail rate while pretending it's clearance. Ironically, there have been times where I discovered items being higher priced than Amazon. Every once in a blue moon when the stars align, you can find a good deal on woot. That said, most of their stuff is trash.

Amazon owns woot. There is no reason to pay more for an item on Amazon when it's available for less on woot

For warranty, woot may not be an approved vendor, despite being owned by Amazon.

100% agree, Woot very rarely has anything deal worthy. Even back in the old days before Amazon bought them, I never could figure out why people got so excited about upcoming "wootoffs". It was all such random garbage for average prices. I have purchased from them before on a couple occasions, and have never had any issues but the shipping was on the slow side. As to buying big bulky items like this from them, unless I was saving a ton of money, I tend to agree with the buy it local statement.

Came here to ask if I can hook this up to my audio interface.

Lol (i'll see myself out anyway...)
"MIDI" confused me too. Looked through the PDF manual trying to figure out how they would go about using musical instrument data protocols to control a lathe digitally. From what I understand, MIDI is all about control codes and precise timing, so why not reuse it?

But no. Didn't see any references to data ports at all. Apparently the lathe changes speed by adjusting pulleys, just like my low-tech drill press.

What a disappointment! I was hoping to connect one of these to my son's electronic drum kit in some ill-advised but technically possible manner. Play heavy metal or industrial for real.
