Fallout 4 is glitchy as hell on xbox. Bethesda is a shitty developer and won't fix their bugs. There are "community-made" patches available that sort of fix some stuff but they turn off achievements if that matters to you.
I'm currently doing a new playthrough on series s with some patches and it still freezes at least 1-2 times every time I play.
New vegas has the best story. Mechanics feel old but the game is amazing. Don't listen to cliff

I'm playing 4 on Series X with a few mods applied and no issues so far.
Starfield got me yearning for a better game, and so far FO4 is it.

Absolutely amazing story. It is probably the one I'd recommend starting with personally. I've read a lot of people pushing new Vegas, the one between 3 and 4. New Vegas felt like a continuation of 3 to me. It did have some improvements over 3, main with companions helping you to survive the wasteland. I wasn't as big of a fan of the story, but to each their own.
4 has some improvements and setbacks. Companions return and the map is gigantic. The story is good, but not as great as 3- something about being the 1st one played and very well written/voiced. Being able to grab a mech suit fairly early on was a game changer... until you run out of fusion cores (power). At that point you're hating life while running away from pursuing death claws. There are several places where you have to take a stand, one way ir the other. Do you help struggling diner owners or side with a bunch of druggies that want to ransack the establishment? Your decisions have consequences, like when an npc died during a mission and his family blamed me for it nd hunted me down a while later. Talk about the butterfly effect!
I was not a fan of dealing with settlements. If you're the type that loves building and growing cities, this is your thing. My pre-teen son who spends hours playing minecraft and the like for the building capabilities would love it. I felt like it was a distraction after a while and took away from the momentum of the game. Trying to keep everyone happy, fed, and safe could be an entire game unto itself. I eventually gave up caring and only visited a few that had the majority of my materials and overflow items.
I can't speak to fallout 76. Maybe at some point I'll play it, but it never really caught my attention and the pad publicity didn't help things.
Agreed. I loved 3, did everything in it, and then even replayed it doing a melee only game which was so fun. Everyone hails new Vegas as being great but I kinda found the story boring and just didn't like it as much. It's possible I was just burnt out a bit from 3 and Skyrim (didn't play NV right on release). I'm now finally playing 4 and am about 20 hours in. I'm liking it a lot. I'm still not sold on settlements and don't really see the point yet.
