Hyundai is offering Ioniq 5 SEL AWD 2 year lease for $225 per month and $225 down in Colorado. States without additional EV tax credit will likely be a little higher but you can probably talk them down even more. I got them down to $6k total price for a 2 year lease including all taxes and fees as well as an additional $2k of no charge options/accessories or protection/warranty plans. I also had a quote for a RWD for $4300 all-in.

They really seem to be desperate to get rid of them. I got to the point in negotiating that they literally couldn't lower the price of the car anymore because it made the residual higher than what I would owe on the car which meant Hyundai would've had to pay me to lease the car, which is how I ended up with the extra $2k in options. It also includes 2 free years of charging on the Electrify America network.

The Hyundai website says the offer ends April 30, but I'm guessing they will extend it.

Edit to add copy of final paperwork numbers. Deal was at Schomp Hyundai in Denver but had similar offers from Phil Long Hyundai Chapel Hills in Colorado Springs and McDonald Hyundai in Denver.

Google AI says: "Yes, lenders can consider immigration status when underwriting loans, and visa holders may be considered more risky than citizens. This is because immigration status can correlate with national origin, which is protected under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA). Lenders can consider immigration status to assess their rights or remedies to recover funds, or if otherwise required to comply with other laws. For example, if a visa expires and the borrower must leave the country, the lender would be unable to recover the balance due on a loan."
I chose to do a 1 pay lease and just pay everything at signing. I also had offers for roughly the same total price with $0 down $254 per month, $1k down $207 per month, and $2k down $161 per month. Admittedly those are slightly better than the $6k upfront but they didn't come with the extra $2k in options which I chose to use on lease end protection and tire/wheel protection

I've probably leased 20+ cars in my life...made mistakes early on, but learned along the way...and still am.

One thing I can virtually guarantee is that ANY nationally advertised promotion has a lot of meat on the bone...there is plenty of room to negotiate lower. It is just a starting point. BTW, I never put anything down...if a dealer won't, go somewhere else unless the deal is phenomenal. Sign & Drive.

Prior to Covid and the crazy car market of 21/22, you never had equity in ANY lease unless somehow the car became a collectible (like the Toyota FJ Cruiser), or you managed to get a huge discount off MSRP (I did in 2008/9 when Mercedes was blowing out the last year of the E-Class sedans for 30K off).

I am seeing so many good deals on EVs out there. Tesla gets a lot of PR when they drop prices but boy, it's not just Tesla and instead, it's all over. A buddy of mine was trading in a 2020 Taycan at some Porsche dealership and they wouldn't take it. A year or two ago, buyers used to wait a whole year until they received one. This is crazy!

Demand for EVs indeed is on the rise like you quote below but it appears that production of EVs is on steroids right now. There is just too many manufacturers of EVs out there that flooded the market too quickly, yet your traditional combustion vehicle buyers are just not quite comfortable with the switch to EVs, at least not this year

Quote from MrTechie :
Are you a paid troll or naive?

The EV market is consistently growing YoY and most negative sentiment is driven by large companies trying to delay growth to focus on increasing EV margins.

You can't be faulted for repeating the nonsense you've been fed, but please stop parroting the nonsense.

Yep, electric is really going downhill these days quickly. Will be surprised to see EVs last much longer. Even the charging networks are falling apart too.

Thank goodness many of us stuck with gas all this time.

Google "best selling car in the world".

Wow...Extra $5k+ tax credit in Colorado. Next door in Utah the deals are $3500 down and starting around $400 month with hardly any inventory so they still must be selling well here.

I went to four different Hyundai dealerships in Florida and was quoted anywhere from 362 690 per month on a 24 month lease. Hyundai was actually terrible to deal with. They wouldn't allow me to lease it in a company name and use certificate of sales tax exemption Tesla everybody else Ford no issues at all. I ended up ordering two more RAV4 LE hybrid for a total of $31,120 each and two Ford Mavericks hybrid that came out to options the driver assistance, package, tow hitch, etc. of $24,700 , each out the door Hyundai just honestly didn't have it together no matter what they were trying to sell. I wouldn't even bother dealing with them again. It was like having to pull teeth just trying to get pricing and then constantly trying to add in dealer fees, paperwork fees, that are not existent Mixed with the word tax and government fees that literally don't even exist for me. I shut them down really quick on that.

leasing works better if you can do it with a business write off on your taxes.

a personal use lease is not a slickdeal way of paying for a car.

at the end, you have to pay residual fee, they check if you are within the allotted miles/yr you agreed to, and every dent, nick, scratch, curbed wheels will be charged to you, for reconditioning the vehicle for resale.

their goal, when you turn in, will be to turn you around, and re-lease, or re-buy another dealer sale.

i tend to drive my vehicles into the ground, so i never lease.

we currently have 4 EVs, and they are all 12+ years old.

saved so much money, time, hassles, never going back to ICE. never.

good luck
That's like 200 total miles of range between all 4 of your Leafs!

I feel like people that say this type of drivel are so easily manipulated by politics. Oil companies want you to believe they are a nightmare so you continue to pump $4/gallon gas in your car as opposed to $40-$50 a month to the electric provider. The truth is that EV vehicles can be the right choice for many. I will say ideally you need to bee a home owner with an enclosed garage and that you have a gas engine vehicle in your family too. But if you drive a vast majority of the time with a normal daily commute it can be a great option.

Yeah? I've literally never heard of this, and I've owned an Ioniq 5 for 2 years.

Great car, BTW, although unfortunately they nerfed the SEL trim in recent model years. This is still a great price.
How did hey nerf the SEL trim?

Interesting article about how there are now 1:15 EV fast-charging stations to gas stations in the US:
https://www.extremetech.com/cars/...s-stations [extremetech.com]
So there is one single charging station compared to each gas station that has 12-16 gas pumps at each station? LMAO
