I bought this in a previous deal. just throwing this out there: it contains a water pump that aerates the water. there's no way to turn off the lights permanently but keep the water pump working (I know it's an edge case but I was trying to grow something that doesn't like too much light). it works well for the first month, but then it outgrows the system and the roots clog up the water pump motor, and the plant gets to be taller than the lights. initially, it looks like there's mold growing. don't be alarmed. that mold is actually good for the plants. just let it cook and sprouts should start coming out. overall, I don't think it's a tidy product over the long term and I do not recommend it.

These are really cheap at good will. It's a novelty item. They work great but lots of effort and money to grow tomatoes you can buy at the store for 3 bucks

Incoming dumb question, I know. Could I put this in a shed where there is no sunlight? Assuming the light on the aero is all that's needed to grow, right?

Yes, you just have to worry about temperature and ventilation.
You would be better off spending $5 on pots and putting the rest on a real bulb.
Not telling anyone how to spend their money. Just that these LEDs are barely enough to grow anything. A real grow bulb will allow you to grow so many more plant, far faster, and healthier. This thing is horrible. Check reviews and comparisons of the light it gives.

That's good you are really doing well in your hobby and are resourceful. Do you have a friend who is happy to make drip coffee and shies away from espresso machines
walmart also has the harvest on clerance. The sprout is okay for starting seeds, so is the harvest, and this comes with the kit for seed starting.
For actually growing plants like veggies or herbs, the sprout is really too small to keep them, herbs maybe, not tomatos. The harvest can hardly support full size herbs, and not 6. But the light is enough for them, they do great and do not get leggy.
But again, if you want an easy way to start seeds these work great for that, if you dont wanna go out and buy grow lights and don't have a good south facing window.
I have one in the garage that was a gift, although it's a different brand than this one.
I love it to start seedlings to the point where I can put them in pots outside without the elements just trashing them. I've got a bunch of tomatoes that are ready to go in the ground this week, and a few clipping with rooting powder of different fruits I want to clone, just to see how they fare.
To be honest, if I didn't have this as a gift, I would get those little square rockwool seedling blocks and the accompanying tray and lid. It would do just fine outside here. When the panel dies, that's what I'm going to do.
These kits are limited as the roots of seedlings grow too much to actually have vigorously growing plants.

bingo... i bought one of the more expensive models of the herb growing kit. such a pain in the ass and stressful trying to use up all that basil while the dill and mint, the herbs I was actually interested in and use a lot of, produced barely anything at all. super disappoint
