I bought 2 a while back on a Xmas Slickdeal. They're fine and make good coffee similar to what you'll get from a french press. Still, can't help but feeling like I've been scammed paying $30 for a small tube of polycarbonate with a little rubber plunger on one end.

If you don't have prime subscription its gonna add up $6 for delivery that makes the original $35 which you can get it from walmart or target for $35 (original). Yet, its a good deal to save $5 via woot. Thanks OP

Cups from an aeropress should be much cleaner and generally lighter bodied than a French press. The aeropress is also about 50x easier to clean than any French press I've ever used and will never break, whereas French presses usually only last a couple years before an accident happens. If you're making 2-3 cups of a darker roast coffee for your family in the morning a French press might be worth the hassle, but for a single cup for myself I'll use the aeropress 100% of the time.

Get a solid stainless FP and you'll never break it. I do agree that the AP is easier to clean, which is why I use it the most.

It'll last forever, cleanup is trivial, and makes a perfect cup of coffee. It's a great product.

Making top quality coffee with boiling hot water in plastic is just wrong.

I own both the AeroPress and a stainless steel french press. I've purchased the fellow espresso adapter to the AeroPress... I drink a lot of hot drinks, one of which is coffee.

I freakin' love and hate the AeroPress for the following reasons:
PROS
-It is so light and versatile
-With the espresso attachment (additional $30) i can make espresso-like drinks even while I'm camping or not near an espresso machine
-It can be extremely simple and silly easy to clean up
-The paper filters are dirty cheap and last forever

CONS
-I resent my cup of coffee probably 25% of the time when i make it with aeropress. I've made probably 100 cups but i just can't seem to get a consistent brew no matter how hard I try. yes I've tried different coffees, yes i've tried different grind sizes, yes I have a bajillion dollar grinder at home which can make consistent grinds.
-Though it's indestructible, it doesn't really fit inside itself nor any other equipment needed (grinder, stirrer, spoon) without a lot of customizing of accessories. I may need to try an AeroPress Go for all that to fit inside itself.
-It does seem overpriced for what it is, however it's hard to find a cheaper alternative for what you get.

Overall - I use my espresso machine 100% of the time I'm at home but while hiking or camping my aeropress is coming with me and i'll have mostly awesome coffee each time.

"Plastic" isn't just one material, just like "metal" isn't. Some kinds of plastic are appropriate for hot things, cold things, acidic things, whatever, and some aren't. Similarly, stainless steel forks are great, lead forks aren't so great, despite both being made of "metal".

Yeah I just moved into a new place with no garbage disposal & cleaning the fp is such a pain that it's pushing me to this direction. But also I've never heard a fp break on me, glass or stainless is super durable.

aeropress says don't use boiling water, the best coffee is lower than boiling. use a temperature controlled kettle or water thermometer. read the instructions that come with the aeropress
