If I'm not mistaken, Columbo was not a true TV show. It was part of a movie of the week series. There 3 or 4 movies that rotated each week, resulting in a smaller amount of episodes each season.

Thanks OP, interesting.

Surprised that a 1971 procedural was upgraded to HD, and that they only did 43 episodes in 7 seasons, back when limited seasons weren't common.

It's actually in 4K on Peacock. Mind you it's streaming 4K, not at the level of discs.

I'm not well versed in the show, but Wikipedia lists 69 episodes over ~10 seasons. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lis...o_episodes

ABC seasons are terrible/huge downgrade from the fantastic original run.

There were Columbo movies after the original series. IMDB shows 10 seasons and they call it a series. As I recall, there were movies after the series. The movies were not as good. I saw Peter Falk interviewed when they did (I think) the last of the movies and he said the author did a really good job of writing for the movie and I thought the writing was terrible. The TV series is really good.

Wikipedia should not be considered authoritive. The Wikipedia requires authorities and the Wikipedia article lists the IMDB page as the authority.

I noticed that, except Columbo did not have the negativity that is common in TV shows now. Young people that think there is not negativity in Elsbeth have become desensitized to it.

The IMDB shows 10 seasons and 67 episodes but season 7 ended in 1978 and season 8 was in 1989.
