I know nothing about shoes. I wore pegasus before, bought some cheap stuff from SD and I regret one of my recent purchases.
How do I assess shoes for someone who doesn't really run?(I've seen some comments on other threads where people say the quality is poo poo and I'm wondering if I should avoid that / Cheap $40 shoes or worse).
All I want to do is
1. walk
2. casual running/athletics like ultimate frisbee, casual basketball
3. most important factor is I can wear it with black jeans / normal clothes and it not look too weird color/etc (I'm figuring I might end up buying some sort of black/white shoes so it fits with anything and i might not get the sale price)
Maybe $40 or cheaper shoes are OK for me? for my use case where I don't walk or run much at all?

Running shoes are good for activities where you're walking of running mostly straight, but because of the taller heel, not very good for sports that require side to side cutting, like ultimate and basketball. I would get court shoes, cross trainers or similar for those.
