I assume service quality really depends on location BUT had att fiber last year and it was the worst Internet service Ive ever had. Sign up incentives never applied and I had to play phone tag for weeks. Connection dropped completely for an average of 2 hours a day(random times for no reason). They created 3 accounts when I signed up instead of one and then sent me 3 bills for 2 months and then tried to say I had equipment on each account even though I only had equipment on 1 account. They might have gotten better lately or it's just my local area full of incompetent employees, IDK.
Tried to do att install when first moved to house. There was construction next-door, so that may have contributed, but one team came out to lay the line, then another guy came out to connect it, said it had been cut, had the first team come back out again, then said they could not connect it because my address showed up as having been a DIRECTV customer.
Three years later, decided to try to switch again. Guy came out, said the line had been cut, not sure whether he was looking at both lines or if he even knew both lines were there. Said they would reschedule, no one ever did.
The good news is that you don't have to use their gateway. There is an open source sfp you can buy that will allow you to run up to 10gb. I got one on order so can't wait.

I was already planning to switch since spectrum has increased me every year and this is the first year they have refused to decrease it any amount. also they cant fix poor service and neighbors report at&t being superior. Best at&t offer I've seen out in public at Walmart or at via salesman at my front door was $300. So assuming this all works out I did better.
after this promo runs out and they increase my rate, I'll switch over to iglou a local vendor that sells at&t line, gives local customer service, and guarantees no increases as long as you keep perfect payment history.

How did you get $130 for 2 months free? Is there a promotion code? How did you search promotions on the search field?
I tried spring100 does not work anymore. Can you guy confirm?

Same here. Almost $80 for 500mb speed. I'd pay the same amount for double the speed. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
AT&T even has probably the worst wireless phone services. They are offering internet Air at my residential address but NOT yet fibers. I would stay away from their internet AIR.

I have had AT&T for years (Uverse first, then fiber) and that's exactly the type of customer service I have experienced. Some simple problems take weeks and repeated tech appointments to get resolved.

They're not in danger of going under, so that's not a realistic outcome. And I can't believe I'm defending a company I've hated for decades, but they are far from alone in leaking customer (or former customer) data, as it seems it can happen to pretty much any company these days. I used to know a lot of digital gangsters who were skilled crackers and hackers back in the day. Most of them have gone legit but it's incredible how sophisticated those crews are now, with state backing in many cases, so it's a constant arms race.
I had plenty of reasons to hate them when I had a landline, DSL, and their cell service at various times. But after staying away for quite a while, I got gig fiber a year and a half ago because I came to hate Spectrum even more, and it has been fantastic. No down time except for a a few weeks ago when the fiber cable got pulled down at the pole by an over-height truck. Even that only resulted in a few hours of downtime because a competent tech came right out and replaced the line in no time. No issue getting the promo gift cards either, which I was very skeptical about. I have no interest in using them for anything else but the gig fiber Internet has been great.
I think you didn't get the crux of his statement. Data leaks do happen. But he stopped being an ATT customer 10 years ago and still had his SSN leaked. I am in the same boat as him.
Why are companies storing PII data for folks who aren't active customers? 10 years of inactivity is a long time. Our politicians are also sleeping at the wheel. We need stricter laws for personal information collection & storage by companies just like the EU.
I had att at my old house and it worked great but moving to a bigger house the router was too weak to cover the house. Xfinity has a better router and I get 1gig for $65 a month.
Just get your own router, they start at about $50. Better than leasing one from the ISP.
F AT&T! They leaked my ssn eventhough I had no service with them for 10 years.
Switch away and let them go under
Along with literally every other American telecom provider. Be thankful it's not another country I guess where they don't even tell you they lost your info or don't even know for that matter. About the only big complaint is if you ever need customer service you'll be lucky if you get a person in an hour.

Stricter laws? That make things trivially less convenient for large corporations? We'll have less regulation in many areas after Slurry Joe loses in November, which we'll pay handsomely for in the long run. We're going to see a business free for all, with short term economic gains, and long term economic and environmental disasters. Companies will have even greater access to our data, which means impactful leaks will be more frequent and possibly more damaging. No one will be held accountable in any meaningful way, and they'll continue doing business with security and consumer protections as a tiny afterthought.

I'm currently paying $52.50 a month for 250mbs thru Cox. So the $250 would cover the $12.5 monthly increase for 20 months.
Almost every week I have to power cycle stuff cause my signal will go down to 5-10mbps. Old hood with lines that have been replaced multiple times. I chit chatted with Cox support and they had the nerve to say "I see here that you're using a 3rd party modem, might I suggest you upgrade to our Panoramic Wifi!" Uh, yeah, no, I don't think my DOCSIS 3.1 modem with a 2.5gb TP-Link AX3000 Wifi 6 mesh system is the issue Cox.
I switched away from Spectrum 500mbps to ATT fiber 1000mbps and couldn't be happier. Coax lines are problematic at best and while spectrum was stable for years for me, right when my price went up last month my service quality went way down.
