Well, those legs would be about $60 all alone.

Any suggestions for chairs that would work with this as a dining table ?

"writing desk"

If it were a dining table it would be deeper, imho.

The information on this confuses me totally. Reviews say the "live edges" are actually faux wood. The weight of this doesn't indicate it's a solid wood top, in fact reviews note how light it is.

One in particular that concerns me is:
"However, I got to the back page under Care & Maintenance, it states "Do not write on furniture without a padded barrier to protect the surface.""

Definitely more a dining table than a desk.

I only saw one review that said it was a faux edge, and if they are wrong it would not be the first time someone posted inaccurate information. The table is light because it is fir (think pine) wood, which is not very heavy, and is also soft, which is why they say not to write without a pad. It is a potential problem if you write on a single sheet of paper, but I think they are just being cautious. As others have posted, the legs alone would cost more than the whole desk, so this is a good deal for someone in the market for something like this.

Wonder what is meant by

"Materials: Composite"

in the specifications section.

In the customer photos, there are a few photos that show the underside of the desk.

These underside views reveal that there are multiple layers of wood. These layers could be plywood or solid wood - it's impossible to tell via the photos.

What is easy to see is that it is not one big slab of wood. The 'live edge' is not a real 'live edge' in the normal sense. It looks like the perimeter is a solid wood piece that mimics a real 'live edge' at the outside edge.

All in all, looks like a good deal for $60. Even if some of it is plywood, it still looks like a good deal. Finish grade plywood is not cheap.

It appears the "faux live edge" is created using composite strips that go around the edges surrounding the fir/pine boards of the tabletop. Those strips might be either a plastic or plastic/wood composite material. It's a nice look, and may work well for many, but this is not a genuine live edge. First clue is the "faux live edge" labeling. Second clue is the pricing.

From one of the reviews "The edge is formed to look like wood, but the table top is not solid wood to that table thickness."
