Great post, for those that are planning to upgrade the NVME drive and don't want to purchase a Suzy Q cable, you can also just unplug the battery while you have the cover off. With the battery unplugged, the Google CR50 chip will be disabled and you will be able to use mrchromebox firmware utility scripts to reflash the device.

That feels like an outsanding deal for those specs. I believe the screen is good too, although I haven't paid too much attention to this model and haven't read reviews since it has the numberpad which is a deal breaker for me.

The Acer 516 GE is essentially identical specs, has no numberpad, and an outstanding screen and speakers. It's one of my favorite Chromebooks I've ever used and I've had close to 20 over the years. The OS flies with those specs. But refurb for the Acer is currently $273 (link [ebay.com]), and lowest I've seen it get to is $240 in December (link)

The Acer is better in every single way.

This Lenovo is still a good deal for the price, but the Acer is definitely a step up.

Only if they come with an unlocked/unlockable bootloader. Most don't unfortunately. I have had no luck installing Windows on a Lenovo 11E v3 for the same reason.

Linux apps will work with the built in enabler but not a full Linux GUI without the same bootloader unlock
