We drink a lot of carbonated water in our family and got tired of spending money for the tiny tanks. I have an adapter from Amazon (or eBay, can't remember) to use my own food grade CO2 tank. I had it filled twice in about 5 years for about 40 bucks each time. Cost of the tank plus the first fill is almost the price of this whole set, but the tank will last you years, especially if you don't drink a lot.
From what I understand there are two types of connections on the soda streams, the quick connect adapter like this one has and a threaded one. There are standard hose connections and then upgrades like braided hoses and gauges. US tanks threads are typically CGA320 and euros are W21.8-14. Links below. I got the exact same one on Amazon from aliexpress and saved a few bucks. I fill my tanks at a local brewery or the welding supply which offers beverage grade co2. 5lb tanks cost ~$85 filled and refills are ~$25 near me in ATL. When you go to get them refilled they just swap the tank with a filled one. Make sure you also have a c02 alarm in the house in case of a leak.
Thanks I got one! Great price!
But I had to go to Costco.com directly because when i clicked on the link my browser guard said:

I have the old kind of soda stream with the blue-tipped screw in necks. Is there something different now about the pink-tipped bottles? Is it an improvement?

That's just the revenue generator for slickdeals, it's on most public block lists... it's not actually malicious.
I've had this for about a year now. Works great and CO2 cylinders last a long time. I would recommend getting the 0.5L bottle or else you will end up having to make the full one liter of soda every time with the 1L bottle.

The pink bottles are quick connect so you don't have to screw them in, the base just has a lever that connects it. You should be able to swap your older co2 bottles for the pink ones, they all cost the same for refill/exchange

How do you get more of the CO2? Do they sell that?
I have one of these and while it works, I'm not certain how great the non-screw bottle connector is. Mine definitely hisses when I use it and it's hard to tell if that's appropriate, a leak, etc.
