This price matches the recent Frontpage deal.

If anyone bought the earlier FP deal and would like to post a review, that would be helpful. nod

I bought this model for this price or so something like 2 years ago. It was my first foray into smoking. I've only used it with propane. So far, I like it! I've smoke whole chickens, parts of chicken, lamb, and pastrami in it. It does the job. As others have noted when I bought mine, the charcoal/wood bowl that it comes with, is probably great for charcoal, but not good for propane. The propane burner tends to set wood on fire rather than smoke it. Folks recommended to me to replace the bowl with a cheap Walmart 8" cast iron skillet to put wood in. Also you should get something to provide a small stand off from the propane burner. I use an old grill side burner metal grid and the 8" ozark trail cast iron skillet on it. I'm a novice, but the hard part I've found is keeping the temp steady. However I think that is a feature of any smoker that is not digital electric or digital pellet smoker. If you spend some time with it, and it is not windy/cold outside, the temp can be maintained. I bought a cover for mine from Amazon and over the two years, it has held up well. Being a small burner, and a small space, it is very economical with propane, so that's a plus.

I had a similar Masterbuilt smoker as my first smoker. It was handy to learn the ropes, but there were several drawbacks to keep in mind:

The propane control will be poor, so you'll have to baby the thing to maintain 225 degrees. I ended up installing an alternate gas flow regulator to get the temp right, but it was never "set and forget."

The insulation is non-existent, and the box will leak smoke.

The positives were a great entry price and ample shelf space for smokes.

I recently got one of their Gravity smokers, and love it. Truly set and forget, keeps temp within a couple degrees.

The smoker box is tiny- I used a 5 qt cast iron Dutch oven with holes drilled in the lid

Entry level not really worth the price considering you can get a decent better smoker for a bit more

If you're wanting to start learning how to smoke, I would recommend steering clear of anything propane or electric. Go ahead and spend the same amount of money on an offset smoker and upgrade later. You can at least learn the basics that are fundamental across any higher end smoker.
