Thanks for sharing. As Russ noted, this is his favorite "small" handheld. This restriction is rather strict. I have owned rg35xx, rg35xx h, and rg300x, and I found even the 3.5 in screen is a bit too small sometimes. If you feel the pocketability of RG35xx is not an issue, I would highly doubt it is for the majority of people, I would definitely suggest you consider the 35xx series. On the other hand, if you want this mainly for your collections but not for gameplay, go for the looks!

Anbernic sure does have some weird offerings (and some very good ones). Not sure why anyone would buy this over the RG35XX H (I guess its a bit smaller and very slightly more pocketable, but not that much...and no analog sticks).

Small screens for the "awe it's so cute" factor? I also have a 35xx and honestly I would not go smaller.

These days yeah. Wouldn't be so bad when we were kids in the 90's. I can't do anything less then 6" after being spoiled with today's cell phones.

back then, we had no choice lol
i bought the rg35xxh, which has 3.5 inch display.. my head hurts after playing like metal slug/gow for a while... so i got rid of it, back to the steamdeck

So this is a RG35XX H but in a smaller form factor?
  • 125 grams vs 180 grams
  • 2 cm less wide, 1.25 cm less tall, 0.05 cm thicker with Product Size(L x W x H): 12.5 x 5.65 x 1.65cm vs 14.5 x 6.9 x 1.6cm
  • the bigger one has a 53% larger screen area due to a 24% larger diagonal
  • no joysticks
  • same soc, same ram
  • cheaper, but how much cheaper depends on moving sales

Anything I missed?

Sounds about right.

Also, I would recommend anyone jumping on these little retro machines to stick to games designed for small screens. Mostly GB/GBA games. Can you play PS games on it? Yes. Will you be disappointed? Probably.

I got the H ~$45 on Ali when there was a promotion. I'd recommend that one with joysticks! If you like only old school games the gameboy form factor one is cuter.

No wifi or bluetooth whereas the H has both.

Really not fair to compare screen diagonals to phones when they have different aspect ratios. Assuming it's a nearly square screen it's about 60% of the area of an s20 so it's not that bad.
