Why do these bird feed products say that dangerous bacteria will form if the feeder container is not "cleaned" regularly? What's specially "dangerous" about "bird feed" that doesn't apply to any other food or feed products?

And who is it dangerous to? To the birds? or to humans handling the feeders that are not "cleaned"?

I have W+ and they do indeed deliver free with one 40 lb. bag. And Pennington seems to have gotten the message that they needed to clean up the sticks and trash from their product. The last two bags I received were much better.

It's a 40 pound mix for around $25. They only sell this one bag. I'm not sure of the composition, but it appears to be mostly sunflower seeds. It's gone quickly.
