Hold the line. AMD just cited declining GPU sales as contributing to a weak earnings report. Push come to shove, they'll reduce prices further as the unsold inventory of legacy cards remains stagnant. Soon enough, the 7000 series will be on the inventory clearing chopping block in a time when demand is collapsing.

What if I can get a nicely used 6800 for $230? Still hold off?

that seems like a very good deal

I've been very happy with my 6800 that I bought at launch. I don't use DLSS or Ray-Tracing, so pure rasterization performance is what I was after, and the 6800 has offered very good price:performance ratio in that front. At $230 it's a steal.

I do wish it had NVENC though. Not something I'd use often, but it would be nice to have.

Buy that now! Used 6800s still go for around $300+. $230 is a steal!

I want it but I need to get a desktop first haha. Is this a good deal?

MSI prebuilt with Ryzen 5600x, 16GB RAM, RX 6700XT for $450

I would sell the 6700XT and install that 6800

Would have bought this instead of Powercolor if it wasn't so huge.

Yeah, you would still be able to break even/make a little on the GPU swap depending on how quickly you want to unload the 6700XT. Make sure you look into the power supply. Prebuilds tend to skimp with a "good enough" PSU. Typically 6800s are recommended to use a 750w minimum but I've been getting by with a 650 on a similar build...

The 10600k is roughly equivalent to the 3600 ryzen for games. At that spec you're basically building a ps5 if you get this GPU. I agree with others though that we "should" see a bit of a drop in AMD GPU prices. I'd lean towards a 7800xt if you can find it lowish $400s in few months even with your cpu. This is a good pairing though and what's 2 months worth of gaming worth?
