Comes with 1 battery. You can buy 2 more with the fly more battery kit which is about $270 now, sometimes drops to $240. The battery kit is a must since the battery only lasts 15-20mins. This is a decent price for someone that lives with a lot of empty land near by that is able to fly it anytime they wish. In normal mode it can hit almost 90mph.One recommendation I have for someone starting out is to get a smaller FPV Tiny Whoop or Cine-whoop drone so you can fly it anytime around the house to get more practice. I have the DJI FPV as my first drone and I struggle finding time/places to fly the drone since I live in Los Angeles.

I paid full price a few years ago and it is ton of fun for an amateur pilot like me. If I didn't already have one I would jump on this

very conflicted, I set out a deal alert for this for past 3 years.
This seems like a really good price, I was going to bite on a used one 2 years ago for $7-800 via FB Marketplace but seller sold it before I had a chance to pick it up.

Now that the Avata lines are out, should I just wait? Seems much easier to fly with the joystick like controller. Never flew FPV before but have owned drones since 3DR Solo

If you have easy access to an open area, I would get this one. If not the Avata is probably better since you will have more opportunities to fly it. I have the fpv one and I love it. At 500 you can't go wrong. A second or third battery is nice but if you can fly off you home you can also wait an hour between sessions. If you have to drive 30min to fly then the extra batteries come handy.

Doesn't this also use the joystick like controller if you want it to? Is that compatible also?
The thing is I absolutely have wanted this for a long time since this came out but I wasn't in at the MSRP. I fully agree, owning other DJI drones, that you want extra batteries. There's really no argument to have one that's feasible if you really want to get your time out of the thing. So I know this is a great price, but what is the fly war combo going to drop to soon because I'm seeing this pop up now about once a month and if this was the fly more combo, I would jump on this hotter than anything else and my bet is it is one to three deals away.

DJI ban could be incoming soon, just FYI. I'd be hesitant to buy in until that whole thing settles out.

It would probably just ban further purchases of it as opposed to policing possession. I don't see that happening and I don't think that's in the bill.

Yes, it can also be paired with the original Motion controller, make sure its not the newer Motion 2 or 3. I have it and while it does make it easy to fly the drone for a beginner, you can quickly out grow it if you spend some time using a simulator. The controller that comes with it is not really that difficult to use in Normal or Sport mode. It's when you go full Manual is where the simulation skills come into play. DJI did a good job of protecting the drone from being places in Manual mode accidentally. If you have friends or family that you want to fly your drone on occasion then the Motion controller is a good investment since anyone can figure it out within minutes of use.
