Can't imagine these really being useful beyond entertainment. If you want to use them to let your pet tell you something, you have to respond the same EVERY TIME they hit it.
I got a bell for my dog to let me know when he needed to go outside, learned it quickly but he started using it like a he was summoning his servant. He always WANTS to go outside, but almost never NEEDS to. It lost its intended purpose and charm very quickly when you go to the bathroom, basement, office you just hear dinging by the door.
There is a content creator who trained his border collie to use about 10+ of these to seamlessly communicate with him on the fly (definitely cannot be scripted) and earn tips on live stream events with fans on Douyin by giving different responses (compliments) to the fans.
For the average dog there's not a lot of use for these. Like the previous comments above, a bell hanging on the door is easy enough to train the dog to go outside. Sure, half the time he doesn't have to pee he's just bored and wants to go outside, but at least he tells us with the bells. We also have tug toys in the basement for him to play so we put one of the buttons near the door and added the word downstairs to it. My dog's head just popped up by the way... But even though he knew what the word was then he'd go to the unit he would never hit the button just look at it. His simple way to tell us he wants to go downstairs is to go to the door and scratch it. Or we could have hang a different bell over there. But the point is he can already communicate to us. When he's hungry he goes to the bowl and knocks it and makes a noise. If he wants treats he goes to wear the treats are stored and sits there and whines. Amazing how much a dog can communicate without buttons 😜

Edit: yes they can (10 seconds) but many reviews say they are low quality
