The MSRP is definitely too high at $1,300 but $800-$1,000 would be more appropriate. I have 2 of these and they are insanely good, better than the JBL PartyBox 1000 in my opinion. I haven't heard the PartyBox Ultimate so I can't speak to that comparison, but this is definitely better than the 1000. The app for this speaker sucks, sure. But you don't need the app except for messing with the LEDs. At $300, this is an absolute buy recommendation.

JBL any day. I bought the MX-ST5CB (the Costco variant of the ST50B) and the only reason I'm keeping it is because it was $99. My PartyBox 300 kills it. The Samsung app is worthless, and the buttons on top for changing modes don't tell you what mode! The sound is "OK" but JBL is much better. Plus, on battery the Samsung is not as loud (at least with my model).

This is a powered stand alone unit (no internal battery). I have one in my home gym. It bumps. You cant compare it to JBL party box units really. For rechargeable, portable units, JBL is top notch. I have the 310 and 110. Amazing sound and mostly "portable"(The 310 is pretty big but has a handle and wheels). I dont have the 1000's series so cant compare those. If youre looking for a powered unit to just leave in place (its huge), this is a steal.

Seems like a good price.

Amazon has it for $400 (3rd Party Seller).
Samsung, BestBuy, and Target have it for $1,000.
Walmart still has it listed at $1,200.

Between the ST5CB and this MUCH larger variant, the comparisson is day and night

I will agree though that regardless of model, the Samsung app sucks.

How is the bass on this? How loud is this speaker? Should my neighbors be worried?
