Newegg has the Intel Core i7-12700KF - Core i7 12th Gen Alder Lake 12-Core (8P+4E) Desktop Processor CPU + GIGABYTE B760M DS3H DDR4 LGA 1700 Intel B760 M-ATX Motherboard combo on sale for $230.97. Shipping is free.

Deal Instructions:
Add the following products to cart. All items must be "sold and shipped by newegg" in order to apply combo savings. Here are the links to the newegg product pages:Combo up savings totaling $59.00 ($15 from the motherboard and $44 from the cpu) should automatically be applied, and the promo code PCGDR2968 should also be automatically applied to the cpu for an additional $50 off, your total should be $230.97.

If you have any issues you can follow these alternate instructions:
Go to the newegg intel combo builder: https://www.newegg.com/tools/combo-builder/4293
Select the "GIGABYTE B760M DS3H DDR4 LGA 1700 Intel B760 M-ATX" motherboard and the "Intel Core i7-12700KF Desktop Processor" cpu. Then click the button that says "ADD ALL ITEMS TO CART", your total should be $230.97.

The 12700kf alone currently has a frontpage deal at $190: https://slickdeals.net/f/17457360-intel-i7-12700kf-3-6-ghz-12-core-20-thread-lga-1700-desktop-processor-190-free-shipping
This deal is only $41 more expensive while including a serviceable (though admittedly fairly mediocre) motherboard, and is an extremely good value for a lower end system.

Please keep in mind that the i7-12700kf in this deal does not have an igpu (integrated gpu), meaning it lacks intel quicksync, and you will need a discrete gpu for display output. Likewise, keep in mind that the motherboard included in this deal is micro atx form factor, lacks onboard wifi (a decent wifi adapater costs ~$15-$20 if you need wifi), and can only use ddr4 memory.

The specifications page for the motherboard in this deal can be found here: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherbo...v-10/sp#sp

This looks like a good deal for those who want to upgrade one more time before making the jump to DDR5. I have an i5-8500 currently. For $230 I can upgrade from 9,500 to 34,500 passmark score.

70% upgrade for $230 not a bad deal IMHO. Keep in mind the B760 chipset will drag that score down a little bit but nothing crazy.

It seems like NewEgg is trying to compete with micro center deals while providing deals for those who don't have an MC near them. Nice, I welcome to competition!

It's a bad combo essentially wasting your money on a mobo that lacks features, can't drive a 12700k at full all core load and doesn't support overclocking. You better off just buying the CPU, or a 12400/12600KF with it to stick to the budget roadmap, or build a different combo

Out of curiosity, what's your basis for saying this board can't drive the 12700kf at full load? The 12700k in stock configuration uses approximately 158w (at the eps12v rails) under an all core blender workload. For reference, in the same workload the 12900k uses 243w while the 13700k uses 279w. A comparison of cpu power consumption can be found here: https://gamersnexus.net/megacharts/cpu-power

One of the people who left a newegg review for this motherboard is using it with a 13700k, in their review they say: "This build uses an i7-13700K, which does thermal throttle when benchmarking. Also one of the VRM's reports a thermal throttle occasionally as well when running benchmarks. So if you're looking for Max full tilt perf gaming or video editing workstation you'll likely need a Z760/Z660 - but you already know that. I personally can't get this rig to throttle in normal use."
Since the 13700k uses a whopping 121 additional watts at full load, if this board doesn't throttle under normal use with a 13700k, there will be absolutely no issues whatsoever for the far less power hungry 12700k.

Moving on to the lack of overclocking support, that's not much of a concern in a budget system, and for an intel system most people wouldn't want to make it run hotter and less efficiently anyways.

The motherboard in this combo is indeed relatively feature poor, and is a budget tier board overall. For those who have uses cases that would be hindered by this boards featureset, this combo is indeed not a good option. Hence why I linked the specifications page for the motherboard in my first post in this thread. For the vast majority of people who would be building a system in this price tier, the motherboard in this combo should be sufficient.

My main gripe with this board is that it doesn't have wifi.

What's the reason for the upgrade? What's the usage? Gaming only? What resolution do you play at? What type of graphics card do you have? And what's your budget?

There's a 12th gen 12600k for $149 right now on Amazon (see the deal posted today), I'd grab that and the msi z790p pro wifi DDR4 board (people are off loading these on eBay for a good price as they are buying the bundle). You probably already have DDR4 ram so don't need to upgrade that. Sell your existing parts.

Fyi, all of this only applies if you don't have microcenter near you, if you do then I'd skip all of this and just get their 7700x bundle (my preference) or 12700k bundle and call it a day.

I've followed both steps listed in the post and can't apply the coupon, getting this error
OOPS... Promo code PCGDR2968 is not eligible for this order and cannot be redeemed.
