- Purchase a BYOD Tracfone SIM card (two if transferring to two phones), available for $1 each almost anywhere. One vendor is Best Buy [bestbuy.com], but there are many others.
- Write down the SIM number(s).
- Make sure it is a BYOD sim, not a sim with pre-loaded minutes. Only a BYOD sim will work.
- Purchase this a03 phone deal.
- Activate the a03 phones using the instructions provided with the phones.
- You may wait up to a year to activate a phone.
- Your 1-year plan begins when you initially activate.
- Unsure about this, but I think you need to activate both lines on the same Tracfone account to make combining the plans easier later.
- You must initially activate using the provided a03 phone.
- Insert BYOD Tracfone sim in BYOD phone.
- BYOD phone must be capable of communication on the Verizon network, and must be either unlocked or locked to Tracfone.
- Contact Tracfone to move number and service to new phone. You may do this multiple ways:
- Online, at https://www.tracfone.co
m/activation/selectdevice while logged in with your Tracfone account. - Text to TRANSFER to 611611
- Contact Tracfone support via online chat or phone. Tracfone support isn't the greatest, but they can do this.
- Online, at https://www.tracfone.co
- Dispose of a03 phone as you see fit.
- One community member has reported that you can return the phones to QVC, get your money back, and keep the service. However, that is very YMMV - it very well may have been a mistake on QVC/Tracfone's part.
- The a03 phone won't have much trade in value, but may be usable with some other deals that provide "bonus" trade in value (I.E. $100-more-than-it's-worth deals)
- Best Buy [bestbuy.com] offers free tech recycling. Better than throwing it out where the lithium will be wasted and become an environmental hazard.
I haven't tried this, but I believe you can combine both plans into a single phone for two years service. It would require a support call.
- Activate both phones, with two different numbers, on the same Tracfone account, with the same instructions as above.
- Transfer one plan to your BYOD phone, with the instructions above.
- Contact Tracfone support via online chat.
- Use this script, provided by someone on HowardForums, which I haven't verified: https://www.howardforum

That should put both plans on the same phone, providing two years of service with 1500/1500/1.5GB per month. YMMV.

The instructions might not be perfect - feel free to edit the wiki.
It seems like it's fairly likely that if you are buying this, you intend to harvest the plans and dump the phones. A 1yr/1500/1500/1.5MB plan card from tracfone costs over $120, so it's cheaper to take the phones and dump them than to buy cards.

It has SD card storage and an AUX port. I did that with my wife's old phone.
It's amazing how long the battery lasts when you shut off all location and wireless features. I even installed RetroPod for the iPod classic experience.
