Components most changed/upgraded are RAM, SSD and GPU. All of them can be upgraded in this Dell. Comes with a 4090 and a 1000W PS. Why change power supply? 5600 DDR5 is bad? Just looking at a $2800 Lenovo Tower 7i with same CPU and they use DDR5 5200. Your unsureness on the cooling doesn't instill confidence you know what you're talking about.

This is a tired conversation. You want to build from scratch, feel free. You think there is better pre-builts, then LINK THEM to them if you truly want to help people.

anyone got update on the CB site?
Mine said "pending" since immediately after my purchase on the 6th. On the 14th it updated to say Dell did not provide the cash back. I put in a help request and they said they are waiting on a response from Dell.

Mine has never shown a cashback amount. It just captured the shopping trip (only one that day) at the time from which I made my purchase. I had submitted a ticket to the c b site on the advice of others, providing my purchase order number, etc., and they said they would look into it and it could be 10+ business days (or some similar verbiage). I am going to follow up with CB site *next* Friday as that will complete the 10 business day mark for me. 15% is a LOT of cashback to potentially not get... grrr.

same for my case. CB site's rep replied saying they escalated this to Dell for a response.

What a morning I've had. The 4tb 990 pro SSD I had installed on Tuesday failed this morning during the middle of work. Blue Screen of Death, then drive not found at boot time. Restarted a dozen times, still the drive wouldn't respond. I put the SSD into the other NVME slot and it booted up. Alienware software started telling me the SSD was failing. Got all the VMs back working, and it BSOD'd again within 20 minutes. Drive not found during reboot. Power cycled a few more times, it booted up, and I started googling. Turns out this happened to a ton of people in the last 6 months where the 990pro would just disappear from the system and not be found at boot. There is a firmware update available (which I applied via the samsung Magician software -- monitors the SSD), and it has been working without issue now for about an hour. I ran all of the diagnostic / smart tests on the NVME and it shows zero physical issues. Never goes above 50C. What a mess, but hopefully there won't be a recurrence. If anyone is reading this and has the 990 pro, get the samsung magician software installed and upgrade the firmware to the 4B2QJXD7 immediately. Good luck.

Did you get it confirmed through a customer support request? Or did it just work from the beginning?

Shoot, I should've mentioned that to you. In my research of the WD and Samsung, that was an issue I read about. I should've given you a heads up. A firmware update is 100% advised as soon as you get the 990 Pro.

Finally got the machine today, going to wait to install games until I have my new ssd the installed.

That said, I ran 3DMark and it got a 27300, which was well below the average of the 4090 / 14900F hardware combo of 31000 or so.

Is the Dell 4090 clocked lower than normal, or is it an issue with the MB/Ram? Or maybe a Large percentage of people that buy 4090s also overclock them?

Same here (although the amount disappeared for a couple hours on like the second day).

Replaced the 1TB with the 990 4TB Pro with heatsink successfully. The tip to use Macrium for the cloning was solid. Worked perfectly. Also upgraded the RAM to 64GB CP2K32G56C46U5 which as expected ran at 5200 vs 5600 speed of the included RAM. Time Spy went from 28528 to 28092 with the ram change. Applied the BIOS update as well as a firmware update for the 990 Pro.

So far this is rock solid.

"Replaced the 1TB with the 990 4TB Pro with heatsink successfully" Did you replace or just clone and wipe the 1tb but leave it in?

So why would your time-spy score be 1k plus higher than mine when they are identical hardware?
