This "first aid kit" is only 6 bandaids, 4 gauze pads, and 2 alcohol wipes - 11.5 cents per item. Bandaids are $0.08 regular priced at sams club and the other included items are similarly cheap. Hard to see the value here unless you really need just a couple bandaids.

How about the little container, what do you value that at?

Maybe, but things are always cheaper when you buy in bulk. For the average person who may only use a bandaid occasionally but wants to have a few handy and some gauze just in case, this is a pretty cheap little pack. Handy to throw in the car or something and the little case keeps it together and obvious what it is. I think I've only ever used the bigger gauze pads a few times in my life, so I definitely wouldn't want to buy a bigger pack of those.

Agreed. However, I love the Johnson & Johnson 160pc kit. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09NWH8553) It frequently goes on sale for ~$14, and I think it's a really solid value at that price. Great to just be able to have on hand wherever you might need it.

Your time also has a value. As its not free. You only have so many hours free each day at least most people do. So when you factor in the cost of having to go to these places and pick up those materials if you do not readily have them available and something to keep them in. Plus fuel spent, Then you are quickly abvoe the cost of this item as its Time's Value + material cost + storage container cost = true value. So unless you consider your own time worthless and of no value. You will quickly be above the cost of this item.

I know this comment went deep considering the subject matter BUT it is good to remember (especially for SD'ers) that your time is indeed valuable and it's good to know when it's worth spending a couple extra bucks to save you time, thought, and fuel.

True … and it's not like you're paying extra for this anyway. This is basically $1.38 after the discount and I don't think you can find something with all those things and good brand name for less than that anywhere. The price comparisons being thrown around are for buying big packs of each of the contents, which not everyone wants unless they're a total klutz or they have kids, lol.

These are ok for something you carry in a back pack or maybe purse, if only because there is extra room in the box and you can add things like tums, nsaids, a few more bandaids, etc. As they are, I don't feel like there is enough in there to be super useful, at least not beyond the first time you use them. It's a decent place to start though, if you want to carry a (very) small first aid kit.

I agree you can get the dollar store version pretty cheaply all the time though.

Throw a tube of Neosporin inside, and these are great for the glove compartment or for traveling. I always carry some bare essentials (including Neosporin) because it's literally a pain to have a small cut start to get infected while you're away from home. Then you're spending time and too much money to buy a full box of bandaids and the Neosporin for $10+.

The little box is vastly superior to a ziploc bag because it actually provides some protection in your luggage/bag and makes it easier to pack and find.

I mean, seriously, it's $2.40.
