Edit: I've personally traded in several devices (phones and watch) in Mountain View. In all instances they physically took the device and gave me credit instantly. I can't personally vouch for the other stores.

FWIW, I did a trade-in with Google for a Samsung S23 Ultra and they increased the value of my appraisal (had a scratch on the screen of my S21+ and I marked it lower but they put it back to excellent and refunded me accordingly)
