Edit: I've personally traded in several devices (phones and watch) in Mountain View. In all instances they physically took the device and gave me credit instantly. I can't personally vouch for the other stores.

does 32gb 6th generation qualify?
Just traded my Tab S8 in at Samsung.com yesterday and got a new S9 (AMOLED 120Hz display,expandable storage and way better CPU) for $199. Was able to even pick up at local BB same day.
The Apple trade-in values are the winner here, and if you can get $399 for an old iPad and want to switch to Android, it's a good deal. Who in their right mind would trade in a iPad Pro 12.9 for $399, though?
The one thing I don't like is having to pay the full price up-front then they (hopefully) credit you the trade-in value after you send it in. Samsung does it right -- I paid $199 to get my Tab S9, then I send in my old Tab S8. Done deal.

I might add that the Tab S9 also came with a free pair of Buds2 Pro earbuds, supposedly list price $229. FREE. Not bad -- new Tab S9 and free Pro buds for for $199. What's funny is the Tab S8 I traded in I also got on a cheap deal back in March 2022. I think it was the S8 + keyboard cover was also $199.
