NOW Internet just launched* – https://www.xfinity.com/now/internet sorry for the confusion, it's not fixed wireless 5G. You need to be in their grid.

Choose between 100 Mbps for $30 a month, or 200 Mbps for $45 a month. Unlimited data and an Xfinity gateway included. https://9to5mac.com/2024/05/09/co...ile-plans/

*Expanded to all markets but not showing available here yet. Just putting it up for discussion. Never thought I'd be posting Comcast but my experience with VZW Home 5G has gone sour. Sorry for the confusion, some articles make it sound like 5G HOME Fixed Wireless Gateway
Quote :
If you need internet at home, NOW Internet could be a solid option. Comcast says that what sets NOW apart from other 5G home internet plans is that it relies on Comcast's existing cable network. That often means more reliable speeds and a smoother connection overall. Plus, you get unlimited data and a setup-ready gateway included.

Edit, more likely The WiFi 5 router is referring to the WiFi protocol as these use an XB3 for a modem. NOW Internet and NOW Mobile. Both products – backed by the powerful Xfinity network and the most reliable 5G – are available nationwide where Comcast offers service, and consumers can easily sign up, pause or cancel their subscription online, via the Xfinity app, or by visiting an Xfinity Store. With all-in monthly pricing, no contracts, or credit check required, NOW products deliver flexible connectivity to customers when they need it.[/QUOTE] so No Deal For Me since I'm not on their grid.

This month, Comcast announced Now Internet, a new service that comes with unlimited data and an Xfinity gateway, starting at $30. This new Internet option gives cord cutters new options for Internet service without a data cap. Now Comcast says that this new prepaid internet service is available nationwide in all Comcast markets.

Now Internet starts at $30 a month for 100 Mbps, which is enough for three 4K streams and the ability to surf the web. There is also a $40 a month option for 200 Mbps down, which is enough speed for six 4K streams and the ability to surf the web. There is also NOW Mobile with unlimited 5G, talk, and text for $25 a line.

Is there such a thing as a full size hot spot router that you can carry into a summer beach house and plug it into electricity, and as long as you have cell provider service, it will give the whole house wifi?

I was assuming I could take my VZW 5G home router somewhere but not sure how they track it or if they even care except for billing. They didn't even recognize my address, had to use neighbors. Bottom line, they say easy to cancel or change with no contract but I don't trust comcast. The routers itself is simple self install and maybe the xfinity app is all you need.

good luck, low level out sourced support is usually bad news. Most service cut costs but at our expense in frustration. New plan may need more training, just rolling out now.

keep trying, my links aren't working for some reason but the 9-5 mac said "Update 5/9/24: After initially launching in select markets, NOW Internet and NOW Mobile have joined NOW TV and NOW WiFi as available everywhere Comcast provides service."

this is probably good timing with ACP ending for millions

A New Option for Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) Customers
As the government begins to wind down the Affordable Connectivity Program, with May expected to be the final month with a partial credit of $14, millions of people will be searching for another option for cost-effective connectivity. NOW Internet and Mobile will provide customers with reliable connectivity regardless of whether or not they are enrolled in ACP – supplementing Comcast's longstanding low-income broadband adoption options Internet Essentials and Internet Essentials Plus, and Xfinity's current suite of offerings.

I wish Comcrap just died. I am stuck permanently with their crappy cable internet. And their monopoly means even living in the richest part of the world, I have 0 alternative (no I don't live in the middle of nowhere). They are now re-packaging their 1950s investment one more time and selling. Who want 11Mbps upload speed in 2024 on their highest 200Mbps "prepaid" plan?

I am paying tons for the max speed tier they offer in my area (1200Mbps download) and I am still stuck with 35Mbps upload.

Debating staying with TMobile 5G Home Internet which is spotty or changing to this. I have a 1Gb Xfinity plan that I am using and was testing the TMobile 5G. I've found that it fluctuates wildly from no service to 700mps. I am paying a little over $50 for that and get the TLive Tuesday deals.

news to me, . In addition to Xfinity Mobile, Spectrum Mobile is among many providers that run on Verizon's towers. Cricket Wireless uses AT&T towers, while Metro by T-Mobile and Mint Mobile use — you guessed it — T-Mobile's towers. Some providers, like Boost Mobile, Consumer Cellular, and Straight Talk, utilize multiple big phone carriers' tower networks for increased coverage.
