This is my go to repair kit as a desktop technician. It has pretty much everything you'd ever need for phones tablets and computers. The quality is great. Sure there are other cheapo brands. Three things I like about it (I have a kit at home and at work) are the grounding armband, the magnetic section of the case, and that you can pull out the box of driver bits separately -and the lid has a bunch of sectioned squares with a raised edge to place screws you remove and keep the ordered for reinstallation.

The different tweezers are also extremely good quality (especially compared to cheaper sets)

This may not be the cheapest set, but if you are looking for one toolkit for repairing electronics this is it.
iFixIt is worth supporting if you can afford it, but this Harbor Freight has a similar kit for $38 and they often have coupons: https://www.harborfreight.com/ele...59258.html
Not sure this is worth $60. Thanks for posting anyway.

Just a note. I emailed iFixit about a broken bit I had, and a couple broken tools (spudger & tweezer tips). They responded pretty quickly and will send out replacements for free under their warranty.

And bonus for not sending out a full kit, as that's just wasteful. Which is what we typically see for Amazon type shops. Glad they carry spare parts to send for replacements.

I bought it at Fry's too. I have yet to test their lifetime warranty.

And what would recommend in its place.
Just get the Mako set when it is on sale. Should be less than $30. THAT kit is a crazy good deal in the big-picture. $30 for the rest of the stuff is just meh if you ask me. If you are new to iPhone repair would be the only reason I would recommend paying $30 for the rest of that crap (wedges, "guitar picks," an ESD wrist strap (waste of time) and other cheap plastic crap).

Everything is inflated but my retirement account which is barely up from the peak. I wonder how many more years I'll be working because of all the inflation. I shudder to think.

After having spent way too much time researching for a decent kit, I can say strongly that this is an excellent value, long neck S2 steel in a convenient case with most of the common custom bits for only $16 bucks.

Yes, OP's kit is way overpriced, even at this "sale" price.

I got a kit from Sharden thru Amazon with most of these tools for under 25, it's done the job alright by me. But IFixit is more comprehensive.

I would argue most home users are going to be fine with the regular kit. It has 10% off as well. They are good quality bits and I've used them a number of times already

Amazon [amazon.com]

Up to 10% off with code IFIXIT20
Doesn't have ESD strap. But you could get that separate. I also have one ESD hard-wired to an electric plug (with flat pins removed) so I can find reliable ground anywhere. You can't find grounded metal chassis always. And connecting to a "metal piece" that's not grounded doesn't help :-) ..

I would spring the extra 10$ and get teh manta kit
Amazon.com: iFixit Manta Driver Kit - Household, PC, Phone, Electronics Bit Set
This isn't necessarily a super-set of the kit here.. So not really a simple "upgrade". There are a lot of tools which are missing from the Manta Driver Kit.

I purchased this kit last time it was posted here for $16 and have been pretty happy with it. For whatever that's worth

Appears sale is over. $74.95 at Amazon, and $74.99 at Microcenter.

Thank you! I almost ordered a $20 iFixIt kit but I kept on going through this thread and found your recommendation. I've seen complaints about the cheap kits having thick necks and unable to reach screws in some devices. Fingers crossed that this is real S2 that will last.

Thanks for the suggestion! I also came across this from Strebito: https://www.amazon.com/STREBITO-S...B08SGM6F79

What's the main differences between the one you linked and this one aside from the amount of pieces? Is it even compatible for fixing specific electronics, etc.? They also have a bundled version with some extra tools for an extra $6-ish bucks.
