Uh huh. Or Shinola. I can't tell.

I do think it's a lot of money to spend for a Ronda 715 quartz mov't.

For the money? Kind of. I think Shinola was a swing at something just above Fossil and, for me, was a whiff.

$300 for quartz is pretty bad, to begin with.

For about the same price you can get a Hamilton or a Glycine automatic, with as good or better quality, and Swiss automatic movement. There are some Orient and Seiko automatic watches that are in this range, as well.

For far less money, there are a couple of Chinese manufacturers that are very reasonably priced and make surprisingly very good quality timepieces for the price. A dozen or so $50-60 Pagani watches come to mind.

Tandorio makes a few pilot watches like the lead one, some with stainless, and some like a Zenith-style pilot in cusn8 bronze that's shockingly nice, and available without a logo on the dial, which I generally prefer. Many of these use a base level Seiko-made movement, like the NH35, or a Miyota movement.

In my opinion, the handful of good quality Chinese manufacturers, like the ones I mentioned, are at the point they're about as good as any mass produced Swiss watch in the 80s-90s, when most of the low level autos were using bare bones commodity ETA or Sellita movements, which the NH Seikos are at least as good as those now.

I think at this point in time, I would put an auto Pagani or Tandorio on the wrist of someone that wanted to try a mechanical and see what they think. I have done this with a lot of the people in my family, many of which still daily wear the one I gave them, and some that caught the bug and own something nicer, some of them a lot more watches and some of them a LOT nicer.

Not really, though folks are welcome to judge the slickness…

I like the sapphire crystals on Shinolas, which is a nice upgrade over mineral glass.

Otherwise it's a fairly well built quartz watch watch.

Very poor value for money here, but watches are jewelry and people will pay for certain aesthetics or simply just a name. To me, the Runwell looks quite similar to a Timex Weekender Small Seconds. I'd rather take the Timex over this based on price alone, but Timex also has a lot of brand history behind them.

At this price range of $300-$400, I would personally look at automatic offerings from Japan or China. Citizen Tsuyosa small seconds is a fantastic watch to cross shop this deal.

North of 300 bucks for a revived necro- brand and quartz? Yeah... No thanks.

Like others have already said there are much, much better offerings for the same money or less.

For those actually thinking of buying this and are questioning the quality I can share my experience. I received a Filson (made by Shinola) watch about 8 years ago as a gift. As far as materials and finishes go, the quality is very high. The biggest gripe that I would have is that the second hand is a long way from being properly aligned. I don't know what type of steel they use, but I've beat the hell out of mine with only one scratch in it. Saying that these are along the lines of Fossil is completely false. The finishing and materials are way better than my Tissot quartz (except for the mentioned poor alignment). At this price, I think it's fair by comparison to the likes of Tissot and Bulova even though Shinola lacks the pedigree. The threads on the crown are smooth as glass and it screws down way easier than my citizen promaster. The lume lasts well through the night and I can still easily see it before dawn. I love the dial and its raised indicies give it nice depth. The bezel is somewhat tight, but has absolutely no wiggle and was paid attention to with the brushing on it giving it a two-tone appearance. It's a beefy quartz watch that could double as a weapon. At full retail, not a good value. At this price? I'd go for it. There is absolutely BETTER value for your money out there, but as to whether this is good value it is.

I live in the Detroit area, they are pretty popular here. They have a factory 2nd outlet store here too which is where I got mine. I have seen them in other countries, like Costa Rica and in London. I get a lot of compliments on it.

These watches suck, they made the company to appear as American made but they really are not, some final assembly happens here but the parts are all random from anywhere in the world and some assemblies are made elsewhere and just installed here. The quality is also not what you'd expect at this price point. Used to sell these watches and the bands on them were prone to breaking, ultimately decided to move away from them as a brand

If you are after this style of face just save yourself the headache and get a $50 timex weekender

"Built" in Detroit, Swiss and imported parts. They say that because they can't say "made in". Sneaky and deceptive at best.

If you're looking for a watch made in the USA this isn't it but it is "built" in Detroit. Yeah right, can someone please move the wool from my eyes...

How much do they go for in the outlet?

Thanks for the comment. Living in the Detroit suburb, I have an affinity to support a company that's local to the area. I received the watch yesterday and wore to work today and got several complements. Loved the feel and look of the watch.
