These run on an existing OS and provide virtualization services.

vSphere is a hypervisor. It's also not free anymore. https://blogs.vmware.com/cloud-fo...-services/

You have to register for the support portal as shown above. You do not have to create a profile.

Then, you can use the link I provided above to get to all the vmware software, locate the vmware workstation pro section there. When you click on it, it will have links to Workstation Pro downloads. There are two download links there for Windows and Linux marked "Free for Personal Use". Click on your link. It will force you to certify you are a resident of the US and that you will not export the software. Once you have done that, you can start the download.

Here is the Workstation Pro 17 blog with download links as well:

Have you guys considered proxmox? I know if you're spending that kind of cash it's not easy, but damn it's worth tinkering with. I'm currently migrating just a few vms from our VMware esxi as the proxmox team just released migration tools a month or two back.

Not really a deal, if you know Broadcom you know that they will offer zero support, they will deprecate fast, and they will not be concerned in the least about product quality. People considering this platform should instead take the opportunity to find something new.

Look up Proxmox.

I was employed in field sales by Symantec Enterprise when Broadcom acquired them. They straight up told us the following:

1. They are only interested in the business of the company's top 100 customers. All the rest could go to hell for all they were concerned.
2. They would refuse to do any single transaction that was under $100K. This mean small / medium and even some large businesses would not be able to transact their renewals and were left stranded without appropriate security updates.
3. They were extorting any of the large customers who were considering leaving Symantec, telling them if they were going to cancel the contract then Broadcom would also refuse to renew any other technology they relied on. Most of these largest enterprises have multiple products owned by Broadcom and it's very difficult to extract themselves from all of them simultaneously.

Needless to say, I quit as soon as possible.

I was wondering why my company switched from Symantec to plain old Microsoft Defender, this explains it LMAO

I'd avoid using this. They have already shown they will change and invalidate license without notice. They are in damage control now trying to get marketshare back.

Also current paying customers have no support, no ability to even download and deploy software. Pass.

Well to be honest Symantec has always been a headache and this has been across multiple "professional" software from them (I will say they did seem to have some knowledgeable people on the support side, though not the in their forums...that was always an everyone help each other type of thing). Let's not even seriously discuss their non-professional software except from the very old actually useful ones that you could find on a Hiren's.

How to get out from certification looping. After I submit. It just go back to the downloading page. When click on download. Goes back again to certification again. 😅

Nah, they only want a name, email, physical address and terms and conditions contract agreement.

I've been using Windows 10 and 11's built in Hyper-V for VMs. Is it a no brainer to use VMware Workstation Pro instead? Any issues with VMware juggling Intel 12th gen and later performance and efficient cores?
