These run on an existing OS and provide virtualization services.

You have to register for the support portal as shown above. You do not have to create a profile.


Then, you can use the link I provided above to get to all the vmware software, locate the vmware workstation pro section there. When you click on it, it will have links to Workstation Pro downloads. There are two download links there for Windows and Linux marked "Free for Personal Use". Click on your link. It will force you to certify you are a resident of the US and that you will not export the software. Once you have done that, you can start the download.

Just be aware… to preface. IT consultant to Fortune 500, SMB, State and Federal Government…I have an "I ♥️ VMWARE" bumper sticker and have steered many a client (after excruciatingly explaining virtualization to Executives again and again) and have implemented Virtualization many times.

I am now recommending they pursue other options. Any company that operates out of China 🇨🇳 by definition is CCP controlled. Broadcom is that company.

We need to rip out any Broadcom and VMWARE and anything that has ties to Xi's #NewAxisOfEvil BRICS who intend our demise and the furtherance of global communism by any means by 2030.

Chinese people are not bad. CCP is flat out evil. Killing Christians, Muslims, Tibetans, missing Hong Kong 🇭🇰 freedom protesters 🪧, burning 🔥 places of worship and books 📚.

We need to severe any ties that benefit CCP and BRICS (recently announced BRICS Digital Currency they plan to use to replace the US Dollar as the global currency standard), note they have a Chinese equivalent digital currency that can only be accessed via weekly digital checkins in "House of Xi" only worship allowed there now….and why 1.2 Billion Chinese people starving…unwilling to bow the knee to Xi. So when I say bad, not kidding.
US Senate hearings March '24 US Spacecom revealed China 🇨🇳 plans to increase their nuclear ☢️ weapons arsenal by 500% by 2030. Think good intentions there?

Like I said, huge VMWARE fan and have used these and many other products and recommended them. But perhaps 🤔 now we need to go back to a new solution never allowed to be exported or purchased by CCP. 99.99% malicious traffic CCP and BRICS related for those like me who have setup and monitored firewalls.

fyi the file name for VM Workstation Pro for PC Personal Use is VMware-workstation-full-17.5.2-23775571.exe in case you're stuck in download hell (Seriously what is with their site?)

My high availability is a couple truenas/OMV boxes. I wish I could help more. I really feel for people in this predicament with broadcom, and it's easy for me to jump ship on our vmware products.

Fusion Pro is the MacOS software. It supports snapshots, as does Workstation Pro. I believe Player has never supported snapshots.

If you have anything on VMware now, find a way to move off. I have used ESXi for years at home, but that's going away. You can't just expect to keep running on the old keys indefinitely, as you need security updates. There's nothing else that's nearly as flexible and easy as VMware from a configuration standpoint, but I expect the moves by VMware are likely going to result in better interfaces and migration tools from the competition.

I don't condone piracy, but damn if Broadcom doesn't make this so much more difficult to get.

Sign up for an account - which takes forever. Go to the downloads list, select one to download, wait for it to load. Have to authenticate that you're in the US and agree not to export - which also takes forever. Then it says there are no downloads. Go back to the original download list, select to download again, wait again. Click to download the file, wait, and wait... and wait...... and... "Something went wrong. Try again."

Man get out of there If your company can't model software/it service cost increases and have to take the increase out on you. My component in my company spends 37 million on software/it contracts and have projected expenses over 150 million in 5 years time to keep up with usage and costs.

If you're planning to download it, I'd suggest waiting for tomorrow or couple of days. The site is currently experiencing slow performance and is quite sluggish and furstrating. I've spent the last 50 minutes attempting to download after completing the registration, but it's been unusable.

My advice: Do yourself a favor and wait. The download isn't going anywhere unless you planning to earn a degree in watching Broadcom pity logo
