Yeah, I have an opinion:

Any time there's a mismatch btw the deal title and product description ["Ryzen 7" in title vs. Ryzen 5 cpu in specs], do not jump until the bait & switch is rectified...

Beyond that a Ryzen 5 performs like an i3 but with better graphics, IME. You want i7 performance with better on-chip graphics abilities? Ryzen 9. [Laptop chips here; I have no experience w/ Ryzens in desktops; I migrated to laptops back in the old Core2 days & the desktops at work are all Intel.]

PS: It's a 4# laptop, so pretty weighty by modern standards. I like my Acer Swift w/ an i7 for being 1# lighter than my old Aspire, but it has taken a hit from a bad fall and the screen is coming apart at the left hinge. Hoping that Amazon offer it again in the upcoming Prime days in July.

I'm not sure where you are seeing Ryzen 5, the description says, "The Aspire 3 is ready-to-go with the AMD Ryzen™ 7 5700U Processor with Radeon™ Graphics." There are also pictures in the reviews of the Ryzen 7 badge on the laptop.

This is a pretty good deal for these specs and there are extra slots for more RAM (32GB Max) and an additional SSD. I would warn that in my experience the build quality of Acer laptops is slightly subpar. In my Acer, the system fan rubs against the chassis when it's tilted and the touchpad stopped working. It feels like if I dropped it, it would explode like a Delorean hit by a freight train. That being said, if you use it mostly at home and don't need durability, this should be more than adequate.
My only other concerns are it doesn't appear to have a backlit keyboard and I can't confirm it has USB-C charging, which are both must-haves for me. Also the unique keyboard layout with the added 10-key might be cramped.

My bad: I looked at the descr. here and it says "Ryzen 5 700U." You're right: when you follow the link, the mart of Walls lists it as having a "Ryzen 7 - 5700U."

So the OP apparently hasn't quite mastered cut & paste? 😄 At any rate, the disparity is resolved, so that's all good. Thanks for the head's up about the non-BL keyboard; that is a feature I really like: would have to consider whether the full keyboard w/ a 10key is worth sacrificing backlighting? Hmmm...

Absolute garbage plastic laptop with hinges that self-destruct lol, avoid. The fact that they're trying to get $350+ for it is even worse. Google "Acer Aspire 3 broken hinge"

I'm thinking about returning it. The screen looks washed out. Windows settings says it's a 6 bit display. It is a R7 5700U.

Sure.

Four year old and four generations old zen 2 cpu and a 220 nit screen = meh.

Not bad, but not the best either.

If you've ever bought an Acer laptop, you'll never want to buy one again.

If their tech support is honest (lol) then I can assume I'm one of the un-luckiest customers of theirs ever! I had 3 "1 in a million" defects from the factory according to Acer. Brand new laptop being sent to Acer multiple times for repairs that the factory didn't catch.

Acer has little to no QA/QC, and you shouldn't buy a laptop from them, ever.

Combine all of this with the abysmal hinge design they decided to copy, and I'd bet good money say this thing will be e-waste in 2-4 years.

I have an 11 year old Acer laptop that's still going strong (I did add an SSD). YMMV, I guess.
