I use this unit for work producing a podcast and it makes my life so much easier. I let the software process both mics (SM7B) and import both individual tracks into final cut pro x. Then I boost the volume there so I'm starting with a clean signal. Then after I cut out any silence from both tracks, I run both tracks through levelator and I'm all good 👍

How do you hook up an XLR mic like a Shure SM7B and amplify it with software? 🤔. Let alone 2 of them.

How would you interface with the software without an interface? How would you preamp mics without preamps?

The Rode has 10x the features, more gain, and is 2x the price. They're completely different animals.

If you just want to hook 2 xlr mics to a computer, get the scarlet. Unless they're SM7B, because you'll need a booster and if you're getting boosters you may as well just get the Rode as it'll put you in the same price range.

I've had the SM7B for years along with the Scarlet 2i2 and Cloudlifter. I've never been very impressed with this setup as the gain always had to be set pretty high to be noticeable. I was wondering if this would offer any improvements and ease of use. Although, reading about quality control issues has me a little concerned

Check out the Mackie DLZ Creator XS. Also excellent, tons of gain (80dB). There's a newer version of the SM7B with built in booster (SM7dB). Or the sE Dynacaster is a mic that sounds excellent and has that "SM7B sound". SM7B will sound awful without enough gain.

Check out The Podcast Meister or Tom Buck on YouTube.
