This same model was $800 on eBay "Microsoft Certified Refurbished" (sold by BuyDig) a week ago without the keyboard cover and the slim pen 2.
I may buy one and see what happens on May 20. Costco has a 90-day return policy.
Probably because surface pro 9 i5 16gb version is on sale regularly for $899 from early 2023. Anyone paying $1k+ for this now seems purely unreasonable
This is i7 with a keyboard case and pen

I agree that the Platinum would be the right choice.
Sadly, Costco has never carried the Platinum one, only the fingerprint magnet and the two clownish colors. I don't know who would want to show up in a business meeting with a Forest Green business laptop... Maybe if you work for Parks and Recreation? MS is trying so hard to out-apple apple... They even curved the screen now, i.e. have missing pixels in the corners like it's a CRT monitor from our Lord's glorious year of 1990...
Now is Windows on ARM ready for prime time or is it still glitchy and limiting? We'll see by July. This thing will still be returnable to Costco.
Also, I believe the i5 version has no fan, and the i7 version does. Because of that, the i5 version is severely hamstrung by thermal throttling. I own an i5 SP7. Never again.

+ 16GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD is now the base model for $999.
+ That includes an NPU with 40-45 TOPS.
+ It should do 7 hours on battery (vs. 3.5 hours that Intel-powered Surface Pros do in the real world).
+ It should not be thermal throttled.
IF the translation engine is as good as Microsoft claims, (a big IF), this Surface Pro 9 deal doesn't looks that appealing anymore. Especially if you don't use the Surface Pen.
Let's see those non-sponsored, unbiased real world reviews, if such a thing even exists anymore...
