I'd say this is a fair price today. May seem way too expensive for a technologically obsolete device in five days, on May 20 when the OLED Windows on ARM version is revealed.

This same model was $800 on eBay "Microsoft Certified Refurbished" (sold by BuyDig) a week ago without the keyboard cover and the slim pen 2.

I may buy one and see what happens on May 20. Costco has a 90-day return policy.

Why the negative deal score? This is not a rocking deal. But if you want a Surface Pro now, this is a decent deal. Especially if you need the pen. (Everybody needs the type cover.) Is there a better deal somewhere? Where?

Probably because surface pro 9 i5 16gb version is on sale regularly for $899 from early 2023. Anyone paying $1k+ for this now seems purely unreasonable

Too bad it's only available in black. This is the worst fingerprint magnet I've ever seen.

Really good deal based on that's it's new (not refurbished like the $800-$900 tablet only deals) comes with a keyboard cover and a pen.

Also available in Sapphire and Forest Green.

I agree that the Platinum would be the right choice.

Sadly, Costco has never carried the Platinum one, only the fingerprint magnet and the two clownish colors. I don't know who would want to show up in a business meeting with a Forest Green business laptop... Maybe if you work for Parks and Recreation? MS is trying so hard to out-apple apple... They even curved the screen now, i.e. have missing pixels in the corners like it's a CRT monitor from our Lord's glorious year of 1990...

I expect that they'll keep the starting price the same. The intel version has a 3.5 hour battery life in real world use. The Snapdragon ones may stretch that to 7-8 hours? Maybe even longer? That's a big difference. And no more thermal throttling. That's what I expect.

Now is Windows on ARM ready for prime time or is it still glitchy and limiting? We'll see by July. This thing will still be returnable to Costco.

Really? I've just loooked back at all the slickdeal postings on the SP9, and couldn't find thath deal. Could you please link it? Does that also come with the keyboard and pen?

Also, I believe the i5 version has no fan, and the i7 version does. Because of that, the i5 version is severely hamstrung by thermal throttling. I own an i5 SP7. Never again.

My guess is 8gb/256/IPS will be base model just so they can still say "starting at 1199". But the actual usable ones will jump to ~1500 and only those will have oled.

Quite possibly. 8GB is ridiculous.

If there is an 8GB RAM version, it will be an Intel CPU. Leak from Microsoft says all ARM CPU versions will have 16GB of RAM.

Well, the Surface Pro 11 was announced today.
+ 16GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD is now the base model for $999.
+ That includes an NPU with 40-45 TOPS.
+ It should do 7 hours on battery (vs. 3.5 hours that Intel-powered Surface Pros do in the real world).
+ It should not be thermal throttled.

IF the translation engine is as good as Microsoft claims, (a big IF), this Surface Pro 9 deal doesn't looks that appealing anymore. Especially if you don't use the Surface Pen.

Let's see those non-sponsored, unbiased real world reviews, if such a thing even exists anymore...

You nailed it. $1,500 MSRP. However, it's $1,350 with the 10% off pre-order discount.
