If we keep getting sucked into these small discounts, they wont offer the $20/30 off we all want and that make it actually worth our time.

Yes, yes there is one. I just need to get it back from 2020.

There is, but you have to pay over the MSRP. It's not a slickdeal.

Sure it's quite bad but a majority of people aren't able to get those true slick deals. Partly with not having a time machine, but mostly because the good slick deals for 15% off usually last a couple hours at most and a large majority of people miss out and can't actually use it.
Plus 4x fuel points. Krogers (in some areas) have competitive prices vs other gas stations (minus membership clubs like Costco). I believe $95 gives ~400 fuel points or 40 cents off each gallon of gas. If you pump 15 gallons, that's ~$6 saved, bringing $95 down to ~$89. 5% off grocery is pretty common so brings it down to >$84. (GC purchases should be coded like regular purchases in store)
A rundown -
5% discount with gift card, can't stack with cashback. 1% max discount with cashback sites (rare for it to go above 1%)
5% discount Bank of America "must use link" AmeriDeals can stack with gift card but not with cashback site OR any other "must use link" deals like the 15% Slickdeals one. Not sure how YMMV it is or you always get it with a BofA CC.
Stacking 5% discount with 5% BofA leads to 9.75% discount vs the slick deal of 15% slickdeals promo "must use link". Not too shabby. Of course if you get a 15% off gift card on eBay it stacks but those are even rarer and I feel like they last even shorter than the slickdeals "must use link".
So it's not a question of waiting for a better deal from the past that just might never come again, it's a question of whether it's worth dealing with the hassle at all.
