I should add that in my experience, buying refurbished equipment has been great - in some ways I suspect it may better than new equipment that may be spot-checked as batches are produced. My inclination is that refurbished equipment likely has 100% of it inspected by a person to make sure it's in good shape before being sold. Whether the above is correct or not I do not know, but I've purchased multiple Nikon refurbished parts, and every one so far has been pristine and in perfect working condition.
