Wore this to an Eagles game last year when it was pouring. Worked awesome, but I wouldn't expect it to last more than one or two times wearing it

This is a popular backpacker option. Regardless of price, this is an exceptionally light weight way to stay dry.
Way better than a plastic poncho, and worth bringing on a camping trip when you're not expecting rain.

Does this cover the brim of a baseball cap? Does it prevent sneakers from getting wet and smelly?

BTW all sizes in this color are this price — not just large

Waterproof + breathable= $$$

Sure anyone can make a waterproof fabric for cheap but not waterproof and breathable, that's why those brand name breathable membranes costs a lot of money.

You get what you pay for, but for occasional use for non-extended time this might be ok.

Reviews do say it tears easily

I mostly agree with this video. Waterproof and breathable doesn't really happen regardless of what the marketing says. The only slight exception I've found is the now discontinued Goretex Shake dry where the membrane is on the outside. Silpoly/Silnylon or something like this Frogg Toggle won't wet out and provide reliable waterproofing. Frogg Togg is fairly fragile but as long as you're not bushwhacking, it lasts awhile. Any lightweight, waterproof pants are a gamble and can't hold up to the stress they endure.

Brim of hat? No, it doesn't. As for shoes it depends on how you keep the pant legs, a little long and "out", then yes, if they're short on you, then no.

While I have seen hikers/backpackers wear these, I would only trust them if hiking in an area where I can easily replace them, and only then if I still have ample duct tape in my repair kit.

While these do not rip while putting them on like the cheap plastic ones do, a stray branch can make short work of these. Also, even if the fabric does breath, it does not provide adequate ventilation to keep you from getting drenched in your own sweat. A good fabric rain jacket is vented and typically has pit zips to allow perspiration to escape.

That said, a good rain jacket is likely to start at 5x the price. These are also great as emergency rain gear. Keep in the car, or use when unexpected rain his the amusement park or sporting event.

I've never understood the notoriety of the Frogg Toggs brand. Their stuff like this suit feels basically like a reusable shopping bag material. But not the nicer cotton reusable bag, it's the easy to tear kind that's made of what I'd call a "faux"-bric that feels like light cotton that's coated with some sort of light wax or something. Not durable at all. So it seems like this price is at or above what it should normally be marked.

The answer is simple: price. People prefer a $15 wet set to a $150 one.

I have a set of these. They are an emergency waterproof outer layer for if I get caught in the rain on a day hike. If they rip or I get wet oh well. No one should go back packing with this expecting it to last or keep you fully dry

Quality product. I've had the jacket for 6 years for 100s of miles of back country hiking. Just bought this set to retire the old jacket not bc it wore out but just because this is a great product. It is thin like many have said but use it for what it's made for not to go do heavy chores in.
