I have bought 4-5 North Face backpacks. And I can see that its build quality goes down pretty dramatically recently. When inflation hit, companies have two choices. Jack up the price or drop the quality. Asics is the first. I cannot believe how expensive those shoes now. North Face Backpack (no comment on its clothes), is the second. The recent Recon backpacks are made so bad that the back pouch is saggy on everyone of them. The Recons I got 20 years ago for my wife and 5 years ago for my son are genuinely much nicer products. The Borellis I got for my wife 6 years ago and is now used by my daughter was built so much better with high quality materials and lots of details. These recent ones cannot compare. There is a reason these are so cheap. If one really wants a deal. Go to Livermore Outlet near San Francisco, these can be had for $35 or $40.
Storefront isn't allowing me to complete the order for some reason. Tried with multiple credit cards, adblock on and off, multiple browsers...

I agree. I love their looks but build quality is terrible. I purchased the Surge backpack and the arm strap tore after 1 year. North Face refunded what I had purchased it for minus return shipping cost. I then purchased the Borealis and the inner lining separated from the seam about 5 inches in length after less than 6 months. I called North Face and they wanted me to return it at my expense. Yea I'll go elsewhere.
for those having trouble checking out I had the same issue last night with the duffles bag deal, ended up trying on my phone one last time before I went to sleep and it went through and being delivered tomorrow.
Received my backpack today, great deal. I'm using a Borealis at the moment (grey/TNF black for $61 from Amazon). Also didn't know Dick's Sporting Goods bought Moosejaw.
Is there anything better for sub $100? I've been going down the backpack rabbit hole for a few weeks and everything I like ends up being a $250 to $350 backpack. From the Goruck GR1, Vanquest Addax 25, Aer City Pack Pro, Evergoods Civic Panel Loader, Brown Buffalo Conceal Pack, Pakt Everyday Backpack, Bellroy Transit, Aer Travel Pack, etc.
Any one else disappointed with the quality? I received mine today and it had loose threads all around the zipper. One of the compression strap was installed upside down/twisted and some seams had exposed white stitching (obvious with the black color). I guess I shouldn't complain too much for half off, but my old north face backpack didn't have any of these issues (lasted 15+ years).
