Just not worth it.. wait for the thinkpad p16s to go on sale
P16s is not a 2-in-1 convertible with Pen support. There are lot is use cases when touchscreen and pen support are required and you can't get that with P16s.

Would a ThinkPad with 8840HS, 32GB of RAM, and 2880 x 1800 OLED go on sale for this cheap? ThinkPad's seem to run significantly more expensive than other models of similar spec.

They were on deal at$1079 just couple of months ago.. p14s were the same price as this HP.. build quality is military grade.
It's worth pointing out that there are endless posts online about the hinges breaking on this 2-in-1.
I'm not a hater, I bought this exact laptop yesterday. But be aware that this may be a problem you need to deal with a couple years down the road.
All of that said, I struggled to find these specs at this price in any other laptop. Specifically the 32GB of RAM in a 14" 2-in-1 with a 780M iGPU. And weighing in around 3 lbs. It's a very difficult system to match.

Wow that's impressive. I love ThinkPad's for their build quality and keyboards, but the price has kept me away from considering one. Also, realized yesterday a 2-in-1 is a necessity for my purposes (gaming on flights so I can tent the laptop on the tray table).

Thinkpads are the rolls Royce of the laptop family, simply the best!!

ThinkPad P16s and P14s with 32/64GB Ram, OLED display, been to the $1000-$1100 range couple of times and normally you'll see those during Holiday or festive seasons. I posted couple too but they're not in that price right now.
However, usecase of this 2-in-1 Yoga Style device is different than a Clamshell Laptop and people needing touchscreen with pen supports like digital artists (just an example), won't get that from a ThinkPad Clamshell design model.
Is this deal dead ... or does one have to do something special to get the deal price ? I am getting the default price of $1349 after adding in the customizations.
