Use a scoop of food safe citric acid. Look at ingredients of most of these cleaners and you'll see it's the same. I don't know about this particular one but you can't beat the price on Amazon for citric acid. Works on coffee maker and sink parts too!

It's no more work than using these. There's no specific formula, just put a cup full of vinegar upright on the top rack, and run the dishwasher empty. If your water is hard or you have substantial bacterial growth for other reasons, a cup of citric acid at the bottom of the tub will also help.

We use citric acid from Amazon. One scoop in the bottom or fill up the soap dispenser. We also use it to clean the washing machine (clothes). However, the tablets take less storage space and perhaps more convenient to use.

my dishwasher is 20 years old.. Maytag if I recall. Never understood the need for these tabs.
Cleans well, tub is spotless, no odor to speak of.

full cycle is 60-90minutes depending on how dirty dishes are.
