The remakes are coming soon I imagine that's why these are on sale tempting but I'm gonna wait for the remakes. Awesome games both of them.

My favorite part of this bundle is having the first two games not even run on my relatively new gaming PC.

Disregard this comment. Definitely a layer 8 issue.

Yes, they are all very good. The 3rd is a bit different than the first 2 since it is set later in a different situation. 2 was every bit as good as 1 if not better.

No, I definitely remember having a bit of trouble getting the first game started on my steam deck as well. Can't remember the specifics though.

Right…. you had trouble getting a game to run on a Linux handheld that steam specifically states is not supported. But even then eventually got it to work.

On a windows 10 or 11 PC there are no real issues for people. Maybe installation of an old visual studio package.

Finished Max Payne 3. Fun game, but doesn't capture the same feel the first 2 had. I don't think it was a bad move to change the setting and subvert that aspect while maintaining some of the depressing tone of the original games. I think going that route was probably better since the original story had essentially concluded and this was more like a new story chain. It's just that it doesn't have that uniqueness that was captured by the original Max Payne back in 2001. The story is also a lot less personal so it's hard to feel invested in Payne's journey. The gameplay is still excellent.

Personally, the first game left a lasting impact since I picked it up as a kid at Blockbuster and the dark, noirish tone was something I wasn't exposed to before in my life. The nightmare scenes kind of scared me at the time. The 2nd one I played a few years back so it didn't have as much impact on me. I'm also more forgetful so while the game was better in some ways it wasn't as memorable to me as the first one, but the atmosphere is still so good. Something about that era's graphics adds to it in a weird way. I don't know if that makes sense.

The third one plays like a Tony Scott film. I was reminded of Man on Fire while playing it. It was an interesting take, but I found that the first 2 games had something unique even though those games were riffing off the neo noir genre.

Well it's Rockstar right? Last remake of GTA was bad and they removed the originals from the story too. I'd say buy them, if you don't trust Rockstar to do it right.

Edit: Remakes not remastered my mistake.
