Thanks. Was planning on pulling the trigger on the non-3D for a few $ less. This will make for a decent upgrade on my VM/server/NAS+ box.

I am not sure you'll get a noticeable boost in performance from additional cache if you plan to use it in a server setup. If you're running a bunch of VMs, extra cores would make more of a difference. They will help reduce thread queues for CPU time. You can check CPU ready meric in your VMs to see how long they wait for the physical CPU to become available.

I think amd put a premium price tag for launch and keeps dropping its price to gradually reach the target price. Started off seeing deals around $230, then $215 and now $205. Surely this will drop further so if you didn't unpack yet, returning and rebuying may be a good option. There is not many reliable and comprehensive reviews and the price keeps dropping so I would also hold the lime.
