how did it suffer in dark scenes and gaming? I would think that this tv should do very well in those areas especially, given that it has mini-led dimming zones for the darkness, and all the perks of HDMI 2.1 for gaming. Someone above even posted that it gets really black in dark scenes. Wondering what your picture configuration and other setup was like also.
The blacks are very good. Honestly, in a dark-ish room I can't tell the difference between the bezels and the screen. It's a very good set and is the typical "go to" in most of the TV subreddits. Let me know if you want my settings and I can DM them to you.
I was able to get the same promo as you. The only difference is that they offered me a choice between a 2-year warranty or professional setup. I opted for the 2-year warranty since we can order professional setup from Costco for $70. Additionally, I added the Q990c for $550, but I'm still deciding whether to keep the sound bar or cancel it. Thank you

I'll start by saying that was in a weird spot with Mini LEDs because I wanted a VA panel with 4x HDMI 2.1 ports. Sony was out because they only have two HDMI 2.1 ports. I'm not a fan of LG QNEDs because they typically use cheap IPS panels with poor contrast. After receiving a defective QN90B 85" from Samsung, they sent me the QN95C as a warranty accommodation.
Those images were taken with my S23 Ultra. You'd notice the uneven brightness in panning shots. You'd also notice the poor grayscale uniformity while playing games. It's also noted in the RTINGS review for the QN95C. The replacement Samsung sent me was worse because it exhibited those issues from the original unit, and it had two thick vertical bands on the left and right side of the panel. Samsung didn't have any replacement units so they sent me a refund check and disposed of the defective unit. By that point, I was done with playing the panel lottery with Samsung Mini LEDs.
The S90C 83" was a dream come true, and I don't notice any of those issues with the S90C OLED. Our S90C is in a renovated theater space with zero windows so it's the ideal location for any OLED. I did my panning camera test, and everything looks good. No dead pixels etc. Lastly the S90C has 4x HDMI 2.1 ports connected directly to the TV so I don't have to worry about the potential One Connect Box issues with S95C/S95D.
If you're watching dark content, it'll get dark, but you'll still notice blooming here and there with any Mini LED. It's not distracting or anything, but after using OLEDs since 2020, you notice blooming. I don't like the QN90C because the bigger models use IPS ADS panels. My last LCD, Sony XBR65930 from 2015, had a VA panel which lead to awesome contrast levels when viewed directly.
I'd try out the QN90C, and see how your experience is. If you want a TV where you don't have to worry about burn in from static images etc then it should be a solid option.

Thanks for those pics and the explanation. Are all the pics of gray screens? Especially that one with just the play button and bar in the middle? I know gray uniformity is tough on LCDs but I figure I'd very rarely be watching content with like that much gray. Also do you have your brightness all the way up? I know that the qn90c gets very bright, and usually turning up the brightness exposes all the weakness of the display, so I don't think I'll be using it at it's full brightness anytime. It's also hard to depict how tv screens actually look like in pictures because of camera settings and accurate reproduction, but I get what you were trying to show.
Also are you using HDR in those pics? I never liked HDR because it makes things look odd.
I've returned a few OLED because I wasn't happy with the brightness or really saw much benefits to contrast in normal content, and didn't like the burn-in risk and the leds degrading over time. I never tried a Samsung OLED though. I think mini led is the sweet spot for me now. I'm glad though you found the one that works for you.

They mostly are. The picture with the red line is the YouTube app starting up. I had to get pictures to show the uneven brightness, poor panel uniformity so I could send them to Samsung. Sorry for the incoming wall of text, haha.
Brightness wasn't maxed out. It was between 35-40 for SDR and HDR content. I route my streaming apps through my Apple TV 4K and I have that set to 4K SDR. I also have Match Frame Rate and Match Dynamic Range on so it'll auto switch to HDR10/HDR10+ when it detects it. When HDR is done correctly, it looks phenomenal. Some content can be dark if it's graded incorrectly. I think if you prefer brighter SDR or you want to force everything into SDR, Mini LEDs are better suited for that.
I wanted the QN95C to work out because I'm a big time gamer, and I wanted a TV where I didn't have to worry about burn in or image retention. Long story short, we went through three 85" Samsung panels and it was frustrating. We renovated our garage to accommodate a large TV. We mounted each TV on the wall so it was annoying to schedule appointments, remove the TV from the mount, and remount the new TV.
The first QN90B 85" had a thick vertical yellow band which Samsung upgraded to the QN95C 85". It was awesome having a Mini LED that most people didn't have or even heard of. Plus it was way more expensive than the QN90B. The first one exhibited the issues from the photos, and it was noticeable in a lot of games. We have the PS5, XSX, and 3090 gaming PC to advantage of the 4K144Hz. We went through the same process, and Samsung replaced it. Mind you, stock was very limited with the QN95C because it was an online exclusive, or you had to order it from a custom installer or integrator.
Next we received the replacement; mounted it, and I noticed two thick vertical bands with panning shots. You could easily see it when you move the camera in any game. So after contacting Samsung again, they came out and said they didn't have any replacements so they had to offer a refund. I waited months for another deal so I quickly grabbed the S90C 83" when it was less than $2400.
My wife and I have been using OLEDs since 2020, and we haven't noticed any issues with burn in or image retention. We have the LG C1, S95B, S95C, and S90C. We don't watch a lot of content with static images. We don't watch the news. I've been watching the NBA Playoffs on each TV, and each TV looks phenomenal. I don't know if I'll buy another Mini LED because I know I would want the flagship model. The Bravia 9 85" is $5500.00. I'd rather drop down to a smaller size and save $3,000.
I briefly tried out the QN900D 65" 8K because I wanted to see how it would perform. The image quality is nice and bright, but the picture quality was similar to the QN95C. I still noticed blooming in dark scenes. I kept losing connection with the One Connect Box so I took it back immediately. The 85" variant is $8,000 so who knows when that would be affordable.
I'm glad the S90C 83" is working out. Games look phenomenal, and my wife and I are spending more time together watching movies and hanging out. We watched a ton of movies on the QN95C, and she'd mention how it looked OK because we're spoiled by OLEDs. I won't be buying another TV unless it's on crazy clearance or I can sell one of my other TV's off. I don't know if I mentioned this, but I was forced to go with the 83" size because we already have the LG C1 77". So I didn't think it would make sense to buy another 77" panel regardless if it was OLED or QD OLED.

That must have been a price mistake
