Could you educate me in simple terms what's the difference between single & double?
Single hose units are constantly blowing air outside, creating a negative airflow in the home. This means it has to suck in air from any gaps and cracks around the house. A dual hose unit will suck in air to cool the condenser coil and then blow the hot air out, meaning no air in the home is being lost.
Portable a/cs have ridiculous sticker prices and overstated BTU. They have their place but this doesn't seem like a great deal, especially on a single hose unit.

I'm new to needing this. What's wrong with single hose?

Where i live, the outside air is so hot/humid it will not cool the condenser, and will probably fill the drip container very quickly.
These are incredibly inefficient. They're basically a scam. They move inside air outside, which means outside air has to come back in somewhere.
In a worst case scenario, these will actually heat up your house. Air in an attic an be 120-150 degrees in the summer, so if the negative pressure is pulling in air from your attic you may cool down one room but heat up the rest of your house with super-heated attic air
