Both banana Republic and banana Republic factory are owned by gap. I have found banana Republic factory has been excellent quality for the price. Their customer service has been great as well.

This is not true. Knockoff would mean the clothing had no association with BR and is being produced by a company with counterfeit design patterns.

Most companies have a "factory outlet" (Coach, K. Spade, Express, etc.) where they remake popular styles and other styles at discounted prices. The discount comes from the use of cheaper material, not knockoff items.

For example, Shirt A is made at BR with cashmere for 200 dollars.

Shirt A will be remade at BR outlet with polyester, a much cheaper synthetic fabric, for 20 dollars.

That's where the deal comes, the use of cheaper fabrics and less intricate patterns. If you're not particular with your fabrics, you won't care about the difference.

Just got some t shirts from a different post. These are some of the boxiest shirts I've ever tried on. I'm just over 6ft and the XL shirt almost shows my belly button when my arms are raised. And they're crazy wide. Laid them out and they're a square with holes. Don't know who the hell they would fit. The fabric and weight are great, but the cut is so bad.

BR offers sizes for tall people. Try XLT or LT. I bet you will it will fit you better. I'm an XLT, but I usually settle with XXL. I find all XXL too boxy.
