Genuine question. The core i9 chips are enthusiast and power user chips and not really for the average user. For those enthusiasts, what scenario would have them get a chip that's 2 generations old? I get if someone were price conscious, they may go for a 13th gen, but unless a 2 gen old chip is darn near free, what market is this serving?

I consider myself an average user so wondering at the high end, what the use case would be?

I could see a use case where you want to have a certain level of compute power, and this would be the cheapest option to reach that level, but I generally agree with the sentiment.

Hmm yeah, I dunno. At this price point I'd probably prefer a 13700k which is 9.00 more.

If you can settle for the K version and you have a microcenter local, this CPU, plus a wifi motherboard, plus 32 GB of DDR5 6000 is only $399.
