If you're using TorGuard VPN, the Mumbai server will not work (apparently Microsoft knows their IP addresses). You'll get the "purchased in a different region from your account" error. However, the Bangalore server works perfectly.
Some other VPNs may also have the same issue. The "purchased in a different region from your account" error typically means you should try connecting to a different city in India or try using a different VPN. It does not mean that you should change your XBox account's region from the US to India, this is never required.

i currently have ultimate up to 12/12/24.
i purchased 6 6-months codes.
i use nordvpn in India server
i use chrome incognito mode
i get the error:
Change your Microsoft Store region
You currently have a subscription from a different region. If it still doesn't work, please contact customer support.

Note: I did have a small issue with one of the codes erroring out when I attempted to redeem. I went back to try to redeem again, however, it indicated that that code had already been redeemed, but I wasn't seeing it reflected in my account. I did end up contacting Microsoft Support, however, when I refreshed after about 20 mins, it did update and reflect the code being redeemed. So it may take a little time for the codes (if you're redeeming multiple) to reflect properly in your account (may experience a delay). All in all the process worked well for me and I'm another year extended for roughly $50. I'll take it!
I try first turning on the VPN then login and I got a new error saying I already have a subscription from another region. what can I do in this situation? Should i just waited until the current subscription is over and then activate the codes?

You're making a lot of assumptions for coming into a thread with 200 posts and most everybody having success including myself. None of what you said is true. Not a huge hassle, I didn't change the region on anything, I have US set for everything. Switched on VPN, logged in, cheap Gamepass redeemed.
