Please, if you have any decency, avoid Charbroil (and their ilk) at all cost.

In 3 years (or fewer), you'll thank me.

And I'm not saying that the griddle I own is perfect, by any means. It's a 36" Blackstone. The stainless steel grade is no where near the Weber's stainless steel. Tip: To check the grade, simply try to attach a magnet.

Bottom line: This Charbroil griddle will be a disaster in fewer than 2-3 years. That's their MO.

What's your source? Because "grades" are not really the way to talk about different types of stainless steel. Most stainless steel is magnetic. The only stainless steel that is not magnetic is austenitic stainless steel. And funny enough, austenitic stainless steel is regarded as the most rust resistant, so to some, this may be the "best" stainless steel for their uses. But there are HUNDREDS of types of stainless steel. All stainless steel will rust and corrode over time, though. The magnetic property gives no indication of "quality". Please don't mislead people on the Internet, as some people may actually believe you.

And the term you're looking for is "planned obsolescence". Every publicly traded company has a fiduciary responsibility to make money. How do they do that? They get you to buy their stuff every so many years. Making money is more important than making a good product. It's the American (Capitalist) Way after all.

Your reply pretty much says it all, especially the last paragraph. Thank you for playing.

My reply says it all? So you agree that your original message was misleading and unhelpful? Awesome!

Everyone else: don't get this grill. But not because of what stainless steel it's made from. Don't buy this grill because it's a stupid design that doesn't solve any problems. It's the worst of both worlds. No capacity to trap heat like a traditional grill due to a lack of a meaningful cover, and too small of a griddle area to be a useful flat top grill. (Lots of "promoted" deals by staff lately too, just something to keep in mind.)

I dont get it... you can't indirect grill anything with this thing, can you? Seems like a silly novelty grill.

I agree on the design. Some nice features, but odd choices with such a small flat top and no heat trapping cover.

Also, great info in the previous post. I am glad to give you your first rep for it.

Look for a used Weber Genesis on Craigslist, a 10-15 year old Weber will be far superior than a new Charbroil.

My last grill was a Charbroil. The grill had an extra bar that went perpendicular and connected to the four main burners. This bar would also catch fire causing extra heat to the front of the grill. A trip to Lowe's last weekend confirmed that this perpendicular bar design still exists.
